Modesto FReepers To Participate in Chandra Levy Candlelight Vigil - May 1, 2001 8 pm

A candlelight vigil marking the one-year anniversary of Chandra Levy's disappearance has been scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday evening in downtown Modesto.
The ceremony is to take place at the Garden of Healing for Victims of Crime, at 11th & I Steets, on the grounds of the Stanislaus County Courthouse.
The Carole Sund-Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation and the Sheriff's Department are organizing the vigil.
Levy's parents, Dr. Robert and Susan Levy, who will be in Washington D.C., for another vigil, will not attend, though they will make a telephone call to those gathered in Modesto according to a published report in the Sunday Modesto Bee.
Modesto FReepers will meet for dinner at R. J. Sweetwater's Restaurant - 1029 9th St. at 6:30 p.m.
The candlelight vigil will be a solemn event in which Freepers will stand side by side with area residents to mark the one year anniversary event.
The Modesto FReepers gathered every Saturday for 8 months demanding answers to the question "Where is Chandra Levy?" and also demanding the resignation or expulsion from the House of Representatives of Gary Condit.
Wednesday evening there will be no focus on Gary Condit. It will, I am sure be on the minds of everyone in attendance, but this event is held in honor and respect to Chandra Levy and the Levy family. I repeat, there will be NO demonstrations against Gary Condit. This is not the time or place for such activity.
Annonymous FReepers have donated funds to the Modesto group during our FReeping days for just this type of dinner activity. Those in attendance will be required to make up any differences in funds available and the total costs involved. Kindly freep mail Diver Dave or Saundra Duffy with any questions or comments.

What a great post! Thanks, Diver Dave. I'll see you guys Wednesday at the restaurant, Lord willing. All those Saturdays - fierce heat, persecution, blood, sweat and tears, wind and rain and cold - we experienced it all. My favorite experience was getting to freep Mike Lynch HIMSELF (condidit's chief of staff) when we caught him gathering signatures to put condidit's name on the ballot. It was PERFECT to see him slink away in shame. Perfect. If only we knew what happened to Chandra. I'm looking forward to paying my respects to her memory at the candlelight vigil. God bless all the FReepers and concerned citizens who helped us FReep that creep. But this is for Chandra's memory. Quiet. I'll leave my megaphone at home. Leave my signs at home. See you then.
