Larry King, the dean of TV talk hosts, doesn't think much of the idea of ex-president Bill Clinton becoming a TV talk show host himself.
"Naah, it doesn't wash," King told New York radio host Mark Simone Saturday. "It don't play, it don't play," the CNN talker reiterated.
Still, King suggested that Clinton might go for the offer. "I mean, $50 million, if they gave him - NBC will never give him that - but if they gave him $50 million, I mean, that's an awful lot of money."
And King explained that if Clinton decided to accept a TV deal, he'd do well.
"Would he be good? He'd be very good," the CNN talker told Simone. "He's bright. He's riveting. The camera likes him and the people like him. You can't beat that."
So why doesn't Larry King think Bill Clinton should make the move to the small screen?
"Former presidents should not do that. The question is, it's a little demeaning to the presidency," the TV talker insisted bizarrely, about a TV deal for the man who turned the White House into the Playboy mansion on the Potomac.
"I think it reduces the stature of the presidency," King insisted again.
Odd to think that Clinton could reduce it any more than he has already.
clintbilly disgraced the presidency to the lowest possible level every day of his presidency.
President Bush reversed that process without breaking a sweat.
Thank you, Lord, for President Bush.
Amen to that! I'd rather die than be counted among the "some people" in your statement! Unfortunately, there were a huge number of nimrods who re-elected that swillpot (after having four whole years to find out what he really is), and there are plenty of yahoos running around today who still think he was God's gift to the world (as disgusting as that proposition sounds - yuck). And they think that his charming and gracious wife (co-conspirator) is the most gifted woman who ever lived. Come to think of it, I'm afraid P.T. Barnum had his facts essentially correct, but missed one detail - they're born every microsecond, not every minute!
Because campaign finance laws prevent them from making such a bribe directly to the junior senator from New York.
Why won't a network give Clinton a TV show?
They would never find long term sponsors. Every sponsor on such a show would become the subject of an intense campaign to force them to drop their support of a Clinton show. Ditto for all local stations who would carry the show.
Which would leave the network having to pay the $50 million solely for bribery purposes--without being able to recoup much of it from sponsors.
BillyWayneJeffersonBlytheClintoon wouldn't know stature if it bit him in the zipper!
I guess the substantive rape charge wasn't? It takes the possibility of a TV show for one of the original Klintoon kneepadders to admit that something this man is contemplating doing would be "a little demeaning to the presidency"?
No wonder CNN is in the sh*t-hole predicament they are in; one of the major news hosts has just received the frickin' memo: Bill Clinton has demaned the presidency!
Bill Clinton! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE GO AWAY!
If $50 Million is what it would take for him to go away forever, I will start a fund right now. Of course, this man is such a lowlife that $50 million would be gone in 6 months. Typical trailer park trash...
Oh well then, that is that, for we all know Bubba would never want to do that!
So how come LK doesn't see that he doesn't "play" as a talk show host either huh?
Felons understand each other.
My thoughts exactly, after his totally immoral presidency, what could be worse? Well, just the thought of switching channels & possibly seeing his "mug" is enough to make me want to quit watching T.V.!!
