What's the problem? Pres. Bush did not invite Ozzie to the Correspondence dinner, Ozzie was invited by Fox's Greta V. The article from the UK reporting Ozzie was invited to the WH is incorrect. The President is not personally in charge of the invitation list to the Correspondence dinner. Loosen up a bit.

Because it may paint Bush in a different light than what you like...

Uh, no. I really didn't think it painted Bush in any particular light so I have no idea what you mean by your comment. I was just referring to the disjointedness and peculiar style of writing. I thought the whole thing seemed cheap and very poorly written. Sort of what I'd expect out of a tabloid.

I've never had a pastor (or a leftist, for that matter) even mention Ozzy Osbourne to me. I just don't think that biting heads off of bats or chickens is anything less than vile. I've seen concert photos of him with what looked like blood running down his face. That also seems pretty vile to me, hardly a good role model for all those teens who revered him and wanted to be just like him. Last night, he looked less than sober for the occasion, which didn't impress me at all, his lyrics and his political views notwithstanding. Frankly, I was embarrassed by what I saw when the camera focused on him, after his first smile and arm-waving. After that he seemed to cringe in his seat and looked bewildered and angry at various times. From some of the other comments I've seen, I'm not the only one who thinks he was affected by something other than the excitement of the evening.

If any of the above about blood and bats are just made up, then I'll be happy to offer my apologies if I offended anyone by my previous reply. As to how he looked last night, I'll admit I don't watch the Osbournes, so I don't know what his expressions are in general. I'll check out some more of his lyrics. I read a few, as per both of your suggestions.

First, Ozzy was invited by Greta and this isn't a WH function-- it's a media function. GWB was asked to address the audience at this function.

Second, what is wrong with having a guy, who by the way doesn't like liberals who whine about the War on Terrorism and complain about access to firearms, at this event. Bush swears (remember the Clymer incident?), if that's your objection. It's supposed to be a fun event. It's not the SOU speech.

Why is Matt so hung up on Ozzie?

I think the MTV show does a lot to take the mystic out of the "Prince of Darkness".

I'm glad kids are witnessing that Ozzie is as controlling as their own dad.  Well, almost and without as much cursing I'm sure!

You're talking to a Brent Bozell-er who'd be happier on an Amish farm than living in the U. S. A. They feel the same way about our culture as the Taliban.

Ozzy may not be a teetotaller, but he doesn't abuse his body like he used to and that is the reason he hobbles and is incomprehensible in a conversation. In fact, he's a great role model for kids-- if you abuse your body with drugs and alcohol you'll end up to be 54 chronologically, but 84 in reality.

Drew Carey's crack about the Democrats losing in 2000 had the folks at Dummycrat Underground seething last night. It was delightful.

I'm glad to hear it. I didn't know he hobbles or is incoherent in a conversation, whatever that has to say to what I posted. If he wasn't high, then having been fried by drugs might be the reason for some of his confused expressions. Or perhaps he doesn't understand that the dinner is a roasting party. When he looked confused, I felt sorry for him.
