The Al Queda either must not understand what they're dealing with or they must genuinely want to go see those virgins in heaven.
Americans are the most risk-aversive people on the planet - freaking out to the extent that they'll pay huge sums to cover even a one day gap in insurance coverage.
And while, for the most part, we're soft, socialist cowards, our special forces and hard core military are not.
Try an experiment and put four of five frogs in a blender, then hit the 'Puree' button. I imagine that's just about what will happen to what's left of Al Queda if another major attack happens on US soil.

It probably is months old...and if it wasn't made public the Bush Adminsitration would be baking right now for holding it back. It is a NO WIN SITUATION.

AMEN!

The best defense in a situation like this is a good offense and Dubya is only going part way toward that end. We'll NEVER end these threats imho until we quit beating around the PC bush and recognize that Islam is the enemy and that we must viciously attack it all around the world.

Good point...
Could this be our way of telling them ......back off....
Now I wonder what is really in those intercepts that has someone so worried they leaked this or planted this story....
Someone high up wants this out .......fast!

Don't we have some "friends" who have no qualms about torture?

Don't you find it odd that they announced that? Almost like they wanted the terrorists to know that those planes were leaving...and that there would be less protection. (By the way, those were AWAC planes, not figihters. They were monitoring communications, I believe.)
Now why would Rumsfeld, who won't talk about anything that might risk his people, do that? Hmmm.
I will leave you to your own conclusions, but it helps to THINK a bit, before making a comment. Also, loose lips sink ships.

If this is true, then is this really the right time to be pulling National Guardsmen away from S.W. border states. I saw an AP report in today's
Santa Fe New Mexican that said 378 guardsmen from 4 SW states were being reassigned. Why not just hang out a sign that says "Terrorists--this way" with a big arrow on it?
Here's a link to the paper, story is about halfway down.

And after the past two days it is better to get everything out before 2 big summer holidays.
I agree with the release of this inofrmation.

I don't think we would be seeing this article in the New York Times if it had not been for the orchestrated attack on "What did President Bush know, and when did he know it?" Now he has to make this latest intelligence public before one of the clintonoids in the CIA leaks it. It's really too bad, because, even without details, this will obviously further alert Al Qaeda that their messages are being overheard, and even how much they are being overheard.
The New York Times puts its allegiance to its political agenda over its loyalty to the country, as usual. They would rather see another 9/11 than see Bush remain in ofice, just as they would rather risk the destruction of Israel than see Sharon remain in office.

I wonder sometimes if these news stories really reach the proper channels and instead have the effect of crying "wolf!" one too many times.

Keep movin', movin', movin',
Though they're disapprovin',
Keep Al Qaeda movin', rawhide.
Don't try to understand 'em,
Just rope 'em, throw, and brand 'em.
Soon we'll be livin' high and wide.
My heart's calculatin',
My true love will be waitin',
Be waitin' at the end of my ride.
Move 'em on, head 'em up,
Head 'em up, move 'em on,
Move 'em on, head 'em up, rawhide!
Head 'em out, ride 'em in,
Ride 'em in, let 'em out,
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in, rawhide!
RAWHIDE!!!

I'm sure for the right amount of greenbacks, we could find a whole lot of "friends".
To: Miss Marple
Mr. Mewzilla made the same point. I disagreed saying that unless border security has suddenly become airtight, we shouldn't be inviting anyone to try anything anywhere at any time. At least not to my mind.
