I keep coming back to Luray, VA, wondering why Condidit was there in that remote place late at night. If I rember correctly he called stewardess Smith from there and said that he had to lay low for a while. Luray is a very odd place for a congressman to be late at night.
I can envision a scenario whereby Ms. Levy was murdered there or en route to Luray and her body kept in a remote cave or a storage facility. She may have been gagged and tied up with ropes on the way to Luray. Later on, her murderer could have retrieved the body and dumped it in Rock Creek Park to take advantage of the serial killer theory, which John Walsh has bandied about as gospel.
In any event, the fact that her body was taken to Rock Creek is hugely significant and removes any doubt that her murder was a random event.

...the fact that her body was taken to Rock Creek is hugely significant... They didn't say that the body was taken to the park, it says that the body was put at the site. In other words, the murderer either killed her there or dragged her there and then buried her in a shallow grave, thus the cadets would not have smelled anything between the dirt and underbrush. Apparently over the past year, the body has surfaced through erosion and animals.

I don't recall the date of Condit's visit to Luray, but suppose he went there to establish an alibi? He calls someone with the expectation that his location will be discovered and he will claim he was there at the time of death. Perhaps the Luray trip was meant to throw off the investigation should it go that far.

I too believe this is a very important factor in getting to the truth. There is much more here than meets the eye.

You are right, Yikes. The Luray call was about midnight on May 17, some 16 days after Chandra disappeared, to AMSmith, and it was only by examination of phone records that Ms Smith learned where the call came from, namely the pay phone outside the door of the McDonalds in Luray, Va., which had closed at 10 pm.
That is all we have to tie Condit to the Shenandoah Valley, despite the fact that the Shen V is the original home in America of the Condit family, and that surname can be found in phone books around there...

The article says that the spot where her body was found does not appear to have been the spot where she was killed. She still could have been killed in the park and then her body carried to this spot and left.
