In fact, Dem pollster Mark Mellman claims the proof that Democrats are acting on principle in asking "what did Bush know" is precisely that it's dumb politics for them for this fall's congressional election. But Mark, the DemocRATS didn't realize this was dumb politics, until it backfired on them.

We here at the Free Republic saw through this scam from day one.
I was surprised that O'Reilly ("no spin zone") fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Now he's on the FBI (the Dem's 'out')
I suppose we're now back on the other scam- Social Security.

What did Bush know? The same thing us FReepers know: the DemocRATS "trimmed" our military. They ramrodded homosexuality into our elementary schools. They allowed our top secret military information to be traded to our enemies. They allowed Osama bin-Laden to go free, and attack us a couple of years later on 9/11. Bush knows that. I wish he'd start saying so - bluntly.

Bush's job-approval rating is still up in the stratosphere - 74 percent in a new Harris Poll
If I am not mistaken, the last Harris poll was a bit of an outlier, with it showing his approval rating in the 50s.

They like the job Bush is doing and don't want to change their view of him. It's not just they like the job he's doing- I believe Americans just truly like Bush as a person. They started out being prepped by the media to not like him but lo and behold people saw that he wasn't a bad guy after all and indeed one they could respect. It'll be hard for the dems to mess that up.

This story verifies much of what you have been saying.

Bush's job-approval rating is still up in the stratosphere - 74 percent in a new Harris Poll I got the new Gallup numbers for this week yesterday. He is holding at 76%.

Watching the Democrats lemming like march to the sea is very satisfying. There's not an original thinker in the bunch. In their desperation to topple Bush they've developed permanent foot in mouth disease.

None of it means squat unless it translates into gains in November.

And it could still backfire even more. Especially if little tidbits about the shenanigans of certain politicos start to come out.
Paybacks are heck.

The Dems should pay more attention to what's being said on FR. We've been warning them from the start that it would backfire. They didn't listen and they kept at it. Oh well... Aren't we lucky they're DU lurkers? he he he

This was obviously a Dame clinton politics of personal destruction attack. Wonder how happy her Congressional puppets are in the wake??? Time to take the Dame's head off over her cheap attacks on the President! What did she and Reno know and why didn't they do anything about it???
Pray for GW and the Truth

Dem pollster Mark Mellman claims the proof that Democrats are acting on principle ..is precisely that it's dumb politics LOL! These spinsters are shameless, arent they? Oh yea.. we knew it was dumb politics, but we did it on principle! We knew no one would believe us!.. Funny stuff..

The biggest miscalculation the RATS made on this one was steering the top issue for Americans back to 9/11, terrorism and national security. The new Gallup poll out today shows Bush's support is general in nature, not on specifics. The negatives are similar. People LIKE Bush and negative attacks are going to backfire. Now the summer is here and politics are on vacation for most. Let's see what the RATS come up with come Labor day and see if they learned anything.

Actually this may work out quite well for Bush. Now he has a much freer hand than he would have had before to redesign the FBI, the CIA, and possibly the INS the way he wants to redesign them. A big stink over how these agencies performed plays right into Bush's hands, IMHO, if he handles it right, and the way he's been doing things, I think, ultimately, he will play it very right.

The fact that Scumocrats attacked and the attack backfired is NOT evidence that Scumocrats are "principled".
(LOL, what a ridiculous idea that is) What it did prove is how DESPERATE these lying sacks of manure are. Desperate people make lots of mistakes--BWHAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!!!!!

It was an interesting process to watch, I'll say that - from the initial strikes courtesy of Tommyboy and the junior Senator from New York through the most sympathetic media outlets to the most sympathetic commentators, the seminar callers and the sign-this-prewritten-letter-to-the-editor apparatchiks, it was a classic case of a contrived campaign of publicity. The real problem was that there wasn't much substance after the initial claims, and not enough of what there was, even, pointed at the current administration. And so the bubble burst and instead of the expected groundswell of public outrage we were left with the usual circle of drumbeaters naked in the spotlight all by themselves. The smart ones were the ones who got out of sight first - the ones still banging are too stupid to ever learn.
