Here's another theory: What if the DCPD was supposed to find Chandra's body? That would explain the entry on the computer (which practically said where x marked the spot), the missing jewelry (theft), and the keys (to get into the apt to leave the clue). The body would conveniently have clues (fibers, hair, etc) that would conveniently lead the investigation away from the person responsible (not necessarily the person doing the killing). But all this would be predicated on the Keystone Kops actually finding the body, which shouldn't have been too darn difficult with that handy computer clue and the use of cadaver dogs. Now that so much time has passed the conveniently placed exculpatory evidence may be gone. Or too much might now be known about other suspects to make it instantly useful in blaming a random perp.

Or maybe my tinfoil's too tight. Just a theory.

Good theory! You might want to check the box of tinfoil and see if your supply is holding up. Perhaps a short trip to the store for future back ups maybe in order.

OK, what if Condit called Chandra, told her to meet him, "just to talk" (to mollify her?), picked a spot where it would be unlikely they would be seen, or recognized, (his wife was in town so his apartment was out of the question, and he never went to her place) a spot she apparently was unfamiliar with, so she looks it up on the internet, a fact he is unaware of). She leaves her phone behind (she won't need it, she's meeting him), takes a couple of dollars to pay for a cab (remember, the dogs lost her scent at the curbside in front of her apartment) and doesn't take any ID (he told her never to bring any when she met him). They meet and the conversation doesn't take the direction Chandra was hoping it would. She becomes hysterical, perhaps making threats (which she may have first done when he ended their relationship). He panics and does something, which causes her death (strangulation?). He panics further, dragging her body into the underbrush and hiding it as best he could. He realizes she is wearing the bracelet he gave her so he removes it, and any other jewelry she is wearing (he was a nut about ID). He goes back to his apartment, cleans up and goes back to his office.

Keep in mind that Condit had told her never to discuss their relationship, or it would be over, so he was probably unaware that she had. I think he was totally unprepared when the Levys brought out all of this information.
