For the first time in its history, the Church of Scotland admitted Wednesday that it had been guilty of religious bigotry, particularly against Irish Catholics.

I wonder what the Rev. Ian Paisley of the Free Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland will have to say about this? No doubt such terms as "treachery", "skullduggery", "the Antichrist" and "the Whore of Babylon" will be mentioned!

Its good to see that the two Glasgow football clubs are now doing their bit to address these issues. Rangers, who used to be about as sectarian as you could get, now routinely employ Catholics (although only since the late 1980s), while Celtic have employed Protestants for years. It will take another while for their respective fans to follow suit though. The sad part, given their fans mutual hatred, is that one club would be irrelevent without the other.

The indigestion caused by the ingestion of Haggis, Baggis, Cockaleekie, and Sheep's Eye and Other Balls, causes Scotsmen, who are a wee bit truculent (shall we say?) to begin with, to become perhaps somewhat shortsighted with others of Celtic stock who canna see the plain light.

Wadda you guys say we let the kilted boys off the hook on this charge of non-PC behaviour? And we wouldn't want them tossing their cabers through any Papist Stained Glass, now would we?

Thanks for the ping. I can't wait to see if rabble-rousing (excuse me, I mean Reverend) Paisley makes comment on it.

I am glad to see the Presbyterian Church of Scotland do this. They should also apologize very explicitly to the Episcopalians who they also hunted like dogs after the Jacobite Rebellion.

If the Church of Scotland is sincere, they will return to us St. Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh, St. Machar's Cathedral in Aberdeen, the Cathedral in Kirkwall, Orkney and a few other of our churches they have occupied since the late reformation.

But outside the meeting, several dozen protesters blamed Roman Catholics for sectarianism.

This is absolutely laughable but also detestable. The truth about Scotland is that the Presbyterian Church of Scotland is melting down to nothing, closing churches left and right. On the other hand, the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland continues to grow not only in Glasgow but throughout the country.

One of the greatest living Catholic monasteries is in Scotland, Pluscarden. The monks have recorded the most beautiful album of chants for St. Columba's Feast Day and for the Feast of Corpus Christi.

"One of the greatest living Catholic monasteries is in Scotland, Pluscarden."

Do you know where this is by any chance?
It will be interesting to see Paisley's response(can't call him Rev as there isn't anything reverent about him to my eye and it would insult all the good Ministers to do so.)

The Scottish Church later named Arlen Spector its principal investigator in the matter. It is anticipated Spector will not find conclusive proof.

Pluscarden Abbey is near Elgin in the north of Scotland. The monks have a most beautiful website.

The last is what really scandalises.

Ian Paisley's response will be of the same value as the gift my neighbor's dog left on my lawn this morning.
