The only winners in all of this seem to be the attorneys.
Do you know what your kids are doing tonight?

Brain damage AFTER the fall...? What about his brain damage he suffered from before this happened?

Now they want to ban mosh pits.

The anti-fun brigade strikes again.

Sorry, I just don't get it. Just what is it that's "fun" about mosh pits?

This looks idiotic to me, and it's not just my age--it would have looked equally idiotic to me when I was his age.

My thoughts exactly...

If he was at a RATM concert, then he's a leftist anyway, and thus by definition was already brain damaged...

Gee, thanks, Seattle Times. I never would have guessed that mosh pits might be violent. /SARCASM

"We don't want this to happen to any other kid," said Scott's mother, Cathy Stone. "But it will — it's a business," his father, Randy Stone, said.

Your son voluntarily participated in the mosh pit. I've been to many concerts, including OzzFest, and have never been injured. Those who "mosh" are doing so by their own free will.

A lot of people have said the same about curling.

"We don't want this to happen to any other kid," said Scott's mother, Cathy Stone.

Because you and your husband have proven to be incompetent parents, you think that qualifies you to lecture the rest of us?

Paul Wertheimer, a nationally recognized concert-safety expert, says the Stones' settlement is symbolically important because it happened here, in the birthplace of grunge

What this guy really thinks is, "Hot damn, this settlement is going to be a big boost to my testifyin' business."

Before his injury, Scott Stone was the kind of kid who'd have his family in tears with his nightly dinner-table antics.

Broccoli farts?

But they are angry at what they characterize as an out-of-control concert industry with a propensity for putting profits over people.

Sounds all too familiar: blame anyone and everyone but poor little (now rich) Scotty boy. That's too much responsibility to expect an "innocent kid" like Scott to not go leaping insanely into a frenzied crowd of rockers who couldn't take care of a gerbel, let alone keep someone from hitting the floor. Hell, they may have thrown him on his head just for laughs.

Get a clue you idiots, if it weren't for profits, there wouldn't be a concert industry. You people who accuse a business of putting profits before people talk to some old Coal Miners. They'll give you a little perspective on how industry cares about people. Hell, if you cared about your son, you wouldn't let him go to those damn freak shows. You probably threw a keg party for him before he went. What a bunch of losers.

the then 14-year-old suddenly found himself hoisted up in the arms of strangers, being passed back, over the heads of other concertgoers, until there was no one left to catch him.

I am a long time mosher. Love it. But the above is patently untrue. The act above is called "Crowd surfing". And one doesnt suddenly find themselves doing it. One climbs on top of the crowd by their own choice, or has a friend or other person purposfully lift them onto the crowd. We dont go around randomly grabbing people and throwing them up on top of the crowd.

I have suffered several broken ribs from moshing. Injuries are common, and 99 out of 100 involved in moshing realize this, and fellow moshers are quick to help one up who has fallen to prevent them from being trampled.

While it is true that we are trying to kick eachothers ass in a way, we also take care to help those facing possible trouble and danger.

And if memory serves me right, the concert (in America) that holds the record for number of deaths was a David Cassidy show.

"The anti-fun brigade strikes again."

Gee, I hope post-victory riots, lighting bonfires on Main St., and overturning cars in major cities won't be cause for stopping that "fun" either.

The constant BOOM BOOM from their cars at least flags them as potential criminals.

And, as a demographic marketing bulge for hearing aid sales in ten years.

Your son voluntarily participated in the mosh pit.

And, at 14 years old, his parents probably paid for it (concert tickets prices are sky-high)!
