If the attack was racially motivated (as it probably was,) then of course that is a key part of the story, and should be reported.

By the way, those two creeps who killed, cut up, and dumped in the garbage that couple on the Maryland shore over the Memorial Day weekend were both black, and their victims were both white. Again, something the papers are not reporting.

How foolishly droll and amusing you are!!! Where are you from, Mars? Blacks, by definition, can't be guilty of a hate crime. Oh, I know what the text says, but the politicians and media all understand that it really means that only whites (and, maybe orientals and, in certain parts but not all of the country, Hispanics) can commit hate crimes. I know that these two lovely little chilrens are innocent of any evil and are simply expressing the pain of hundreds of years of slavery and, perhaps, even worse, being required to wear mismatched socks during their most formative years. Yeah, that must be it. But, hate crime, no, never.

Now, a truly objective media would want to know from the perps' parents what motivated their kids to attack a 5 year old. The black parents (Iknow, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt) might know how their children learned the "hate" involved in the attack. But, since it flies in the face of journalistic integrity, we'll never know.

Maybe you should pin the blame on the two mongrels that did this, and their parents for allowing it.

While you do raise a valid point, compassionan, kindness and a sense of right and wrong are values which must be instilled, practiced and taught to a child far before the ages of 8 and 12 years old. Hopefully their parents will be held equally accountable for what their children did.

The bottom line remains the 5 year old child in regards to the circumstances leading up to her attack. Had her parents kept tabs on her whereabouts and properly supervised her play, the twisted individuals roaming the streets would have had no opportunity to lure the child in the first place.

Latest update from local news 4 is that the little white girl had to be taken back to the hospital for a collasped lung. They are now reporting that they think the reason the two perps stabbed her was because she may have accidentally kicked them while swinging on the swingset. Get real! How long did it take for PG police to come up with this lame excuse? I'm sure these perps are real credible. /sarcasm. This little 5 year old girl is probably so traumatized that she probably doesn't understand what happened to her so she cannot articulate to the police the evil in these two girls.

Actually, they're both white, and about as innocuous a couple as you'd be likely to meet on a holiday weekend at the beach. Not somebody I'd be eyeballing from a distance as "shady characters." Just goes to show ya....

We have to use the approved text, which features chapter subheadings like "Patriarchy and Violence" and other goodies. I need to be able to provide counter-points to the b.s. the university will require me to teach. Help, freepers, help!

Do a google search for color of crime. it's a pdf file based on US Department of Justice figures for 1993 or 1994 (the last year they reported the race of perps and victims, btw...they stopped because of the uproar the statistics caused .)

FBI Uniform Crime Reports at http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/ucr.htm contain a wealth of stuff. Looking at stats where they break down race of offender by race of victim, you find that "black on white" crime is 3 times more than "white on black" crime. The problem with FBI stats, though, is that they lump all Hispanics in with "whites" when counting offenders (there is no category for "Hispanic Offenders") but DO have a separate category for Hispanic VICTIMS. So the "white" offender category is inflated with Hispanic crime, and is not a valid measure of "European-American" crime.
