subjects who showed homophobic tendencies on the Index also displayed conservative sexual attitudes, elevated levels of disgust and dread of contamination.

The only reason I can see that they used the word "dread" was because if they used the equally applicable word "fear" their conclusion would be shown to be contraditory on its face.

...implying that there's something medically wrong with prejudiced people....

There's the new line -- it's not FEAR, but rather PREJUDICE. Thus the current trend to make homosexuals a protected class of citizens. Look for quotas to come next.

One does not fear maggots crawling on decomposing organic matter. Similarly, one does not fear homosexuality, in spite of the subtle proproganda fostered by the practitioners of that cult-like lifestyle. "How do you know what your OWN base desires might be, hey, bunkie?"

To which one can only reply, "Just get away from me, perv." Disgust is the only sane response. Some cans of worms, once opened, cannot be adequately sealed up again.

If that's the case, any attempt to treat or reduce homophobia would have to be conducted through a process of attitude reformation, which could occur in a social context such as homes or schools rather than in a clinical setting.

Ah, so this is how they plan to justify teaching this in schools.

"Psychologists Show Homophobia To Be Driven By Disgust, Not Fear"

that it represents a prejudicial attitude more akin to racism than to phobia. If that's the case, any attempt to treat or reduce homophobia would have to be conducted through a process of attitude reformation, which could occur in a social context such as homes or schools rather than in a clinical setting.

Homophobia always was just a word made up by gay/lesbian activists to demonise those opposed to their agenda. Why did these researchers take it seriously?

Prejudice akin to racism? Are they are setting the stage for passing laws dealing with prejudice?

Here's some academics, oblivious to the real world. They should have spent a little time in the poly sci dept. There, they would have learned that "homophobis" is not and never was a real word or concept. Those on the left who would destroy society as we know it and replace it with their model have always done this. They invent a word or phrase that serves as an absolute defense against question and criticism and shifts the onus to the one asking raising the issue. Thus, the extreme leftist, when asked about communists in the Department of State, didn't have to bother with State, they just screamed "McCarthyism!!!." This is a technique that works well when most od academia and ALL of the traditional media are ultra-left wingers.

"Homophobe" was never meant to be a real word, just what the fairies and their friends screamed when anyone questioned or criticisized their perversion. "Antisemite" is another such word that the leftist automatically shreik when Israel is questioned or criticized. There will soon be a word that will be raised as a defense when anyone talks about fairies in the Roman preisthood. So, don't spend much time on "homophobia," it was never meant to be maore than an invention to encourage faggitude and disparage those who believe that pattern of behavior to be deviant.

Notice how often the article used the phrase "homophobia"?

There is no such thing as homophobia. That bogus word, along with "gay" and "straight" was coined by homosexuals to try smear normal people as being sick.

It is no accident that this article was about investigation into "homophobia" to identify causes and possible "treatments" for "homophobics".

How disgusting! In less than a generation people choosing a filthy sex life have infiltrated the medical, academic, and government establishments to the point where normal people are now being studied for "treatment" to change their normalcy.

Political Correctness at work. Weep for the Republic.

"We included the Padua Inventory because fear of contamination clarifies the type of disgust that people are feeling. Without information about contamination fears, you could assume that homophobic people were just disgusted by the abnormality of the homosexual lifestyle," Olatunji said. "But this tells us there's a perception of contagion that feeds into homophobia."

This is bogus horse hockey.

They tell me that I am disgusted by the abnormality of the homosexual lifestyle because there's a perception of contagion???

NO, I'm just plain ole disgusted by men having SEX with men.

I don't worry about contagion.

They throw that twist and turn in there because on face value if people were disgusted by their BEHAVIOR only...

They would have to call us hate mongers

Yeah, I find a male liplock a turn off. Don't get me started on guys butt plugging each other. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Of course I'm disgusted. How long did it take these Arkanicide psychologists to reach such an obvious conclusion? The heterophobes can keep attacking me as a homophobe all they want but they will never convince me gay sex is something that I can appreciate with sympathy, approval, and admiration.

Unbelievable how far we have come. Used to be , in the days when common sense ruled, being a 'mo was a psychological disorder. Now they are trying to foist the title of "deranged" on those who are disgusted with 'mos. Ain't progress grand?

Surprise, surprise, surprise!

There may well be someone out there neurotic enough to be "homo" phobic.
That is, having a panic attack when confronted with a "homo".

That's never what they were talking about.

So does this mean that homosexual men who are disgusted by women or the thought of sex/marriage with them are *prejudiced* and need to be reoriented through "education in homes and schools?" If not, why not?

Gosh, is this starting to sound familiar... All prejudices are equal, but some are more equal than others. It's OK to be disgusted by heterosexuality, but not by homosexuality.

I agree with you in that this should be very obvious. This study wasn't needed because it told us what we already know.

But they can call it "fear" or "disgust" all they want. For me, I've never met a homosexual in whom I was afraid.

Homosexuality is disgusting. They very thought of men having sex with men (or women with women) is nauseating.

Like you, I could have told them the same thing. Years ago when I worked as a secretary, a lesbian temp approached me on the job. She asked if I was interested and I said, firmly No! She said if you don't try it you may not know what you are missing. I told her, I didn't think she'd like it at all, because if she touched me I'd throw up all over her.

I also remember my husband and another guy discussing kissing another man. Both said the same thing - they'd throw up. Do we hate gays? No. We have many gay friends and as long as they don't approach us, we remain friends. These stupid studies annoy me.
