This is a MAJOR blow to Davis. He had the endorsement of this highly respected law enforcement group last time.
I sense a major turning here. GO Simon!!!

WONDERFUL NEWS !!! Law Enforcement Says Davi$ SmeLLs ...
IS This Just The First of Many Endorsements That Will Shock and AmaZe the Masses? I certainly Hope so!
DUMP DAVI$ & the Den of Socialists
GO SIMON

I bet Simon won't sign a shall-issue CCW law if it crosses his desk, anytime soon, because of the COPS endorsement. Why should COPS want shall-issue CCW? It takes away job security.

Simon here misses an opportunity to mention the ludicrous gun control bills Red Davis has signed into law.

This is getting good . . . BTW, I saw a Davis attack ad yesterday during Fox News Sunday; First thought?

GREAT news. It's really sad, though, that we had to have a Democrat governor in the first place. The rise in crime is real ... and it's not just car thefts (which has the highest increase) ... but VIOLENT crime.
The "education" governor has failed to increase test scores ... the "tough on crime" governor has failed to lower crime rates ... this governor doesn't know the meaning of the phrase "the buck stops here" unless it has a picture of Andrew Jackson!
Dump Davis! GO SIMON!

Very good, but it's quite disturbing this "highly respected law enforcement group" backed Davis in '98.

Dan, has Simon responded to the scathing article in the Left Angeles Times about Simon and the S&L scandal? The Davis crowd are airing an ad on the tv and I saw the article in the Sac Bee defending Simon but haven't heard anything from Simon...

Maybe they figure with Simon as Gov., there will be less people to arrest. (ie Davis).

"I sense a major turning here."
Oh no! A Conservative will never be able to win in the leftist, liberal, Hollywood star laden, Peoples Republic of Kalifornia! Yada, yada ,yada; blah blah blah!!!!!
There, I feel much better now. Just couldn't wait any longer for the California bashers to show up, so I took matters into my own hands!

>Is it really great news?
I mean, yes, it is great to get an endorsement, but how much weight does this carry in California?
This endorsement doesn't amount to much more than being a small pimple on a large man's ass. Yes, it's nice that he got an endorsement but the COPS endorsement doesn't carry any weight...in fact, they are considered to be an irrelevant splinter group within the law enforcement community. Compare the COPS endorsement to the eventual endorsements from the various POAs and the prison guards.
Simon needs to start talking about relevant tax issues that appeal to a cross-section of both parties...marriage penalty (I know this is a federal issue but he should talk about it anyway), property tax relief (increase in the property tax exemption and relief for heirs and/or partners in real estate...heirs and/or surviving partners should not be subjected to a tax reassessment of property) and capgains relief.
For crying out loud, Simon MUST slam each and every tax increase proposal by the legislature...if he doesn't, he deserves to lose.

This is great news and news it is! This group shifting it's support is amazing to me. I heard this called for on a local talk radio show by a former law enforcement officer, but even he didn't think it would happen.

I do appreciate being included in the CA wide Pings.
I attempted to look up the aformentioned California Organization of Police and Sheriffs and came up with this: "California Organization of Police and Sheriffs" which doesn't look good.
That isn't to say that the Organization doesn't exist they just may be behind the Internet curve.
