Some people think of pundit Ann Coulter as a razor-tongued right-winger. But in her latest book, "Slander," she's a human Uzi -- spraying a volley of invective at members of the media establishment.

Among those who come under heavy fire -- for allegedly spreading what Coulter labels "liberal lies about the American Right" -- are "Today" show anchors Katie Couric and Matt Lauer; U.S. News & World Report owner Mort Zuckerman and his one-time girlfriend, feminist icon Gloria Steinem; the New York Times's ArthurSulzberger, Howell Raines and Maureen Dowd; and our Post colleague Howard Kurtz.

I wish young Annie would direct some of her welcome anger and precise sarcasm and desire for truth toward something like Flight 800 and OKC. She deals in personalities so much she seldom gets to other things. But in the end, Ann rules!

Coulter is right on with Lauer and Couric. They are a Punch and Judy early-morning propaganda show for the Left. Couric was unbelievable in the aftermath of the shooting spree at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. She was abjectly partisan, and very frequently likes to push conservative guests into a corner and beat them up. Matt Lauer is a joke, when it comes to objectivity......he's a Nineties Guy, feeeeeelllling his way to Goodness by alternately playing amiable straight man for Killer Katie and then getting a little Donahue-esque himself and asking selfrighteously indignant questions of guests who don't make scratch in the PC department.

Go get 'em, Annie! Plow their field for them!

"the affable Eva Braun of morning Television"

There is no better way to describe Couric than that.

Ann is the BEST!

She deals in personalities so much she seldom gets to other things.

This is part of human nature: Women blame people, Men blame things.

From the article: "Coulter also writes that Steinem, to keep her financially strapped Ms. magazine `afloat,' `had to sleep with Zuckerman . . . whom Steinem later casually admitted she didn't love.'" I thought Ann once argued that it would be great if she, an unmarried woman, went out to a bar and slept with a different stranger every night. You'd think she'd want to be careful about making the claim that a woman was whoring herself to get published.

Coulter Attacks -- Accurately

Some people think of pundit Ann Coulter as the female icon of Conservative punditry. But in her latest book, "Slander," she's a human Uzi -- spraying a volley of piercing analysis at members of the liberal media establishment.

Among those who come under heavy fire -- for spreading what Coulter labels "liberal lies about the American Right" -- are left-wing "Today" show anchors Katie Couric and Matt Lauer; U.S. News & World Report owner Mort Zuckerman and his one-time girlfriend, radical feminist icon Gloria Steinem; the New York Times's ArthurSulzberger, Howell Raines and the ultra-moron Maureen Dowd; and our Post colleague Howard Kurtz.

Coulter accurately portrays the "Today" stars as liberal-Democrat shills, and, with amazing restraint, compares Couric to Adolf Hitler's mistress, calling her "the affable Eva Braun of morning television." In response, NBC News spokeswoman Allison Gollust told us: "We find it ironic that while Coulter questions the credibility of Matt and Katie throughout her book, she has no problem asking them to promote the book on their program. We look forward to interviewing her on June 26th." Somehow, Allison Gollust has forgotten a successful element of Fox News, and Democracy in general: ability to criticize. How dare Coulter criticize the beloved Matt and Katie! Apparently, Gollust is either intentionally trying to provide support for Coulter's "Braun" thesis, or she has simply missed the fact that she is doing just that. Conservatives wouldn't be so annoyed at Katie Courics documented liberal bias if she would simply come out and proclaim that indeed she is a liberal, and that she has a full collection of golden idols of Jackie O. in her bedroom, to which she bows each day.

Coulter attacks Sulzberger, Raines and Dowd for denigrating the intelligence of conservative politicians, and demands that the three smart alecks publicly release their SAT scores. A Times spokeswoman giggled profusely but otherwise offered no comment.

Coulter also writes that Steinem, to keep her financially strapped Ms. magazine "afloat," "had to sleep with Zuckerman . . . whom Steinem later casually admitted she didn't love." She adds that Zuckerman lent Steinem's magazine $700,000 and gave an additional $401,151.

It would have been a lot cheaper if Zuckerman had just paid a high class ho' for the evening.

If what she wrote didn't have truth to it (and bother them) they would not have responded to her book at all.

The fact that they felt they had to respond------and be cutesy and "Dowd-esque" in their witty rebuff; means she hit paydirt............................................

...............and they know it.

You know Ann's promoting her book, right? She's asking them for TV time. They're in it for the money. They're betting that she'll be outrageous enough to generate ratings. Why do you think Jerry Springer invites the KKK's Imperial Wizard on for a show. You don't think Jerry's Klan do you?

First you wrote:

I have read tons of her stuff--never heard that. Do you have the source? (other than "I thought"?)

Second, I don't understand what you mean in #15. Please clarify.

You can do a google search on the quote: "Let's say I go out every night, I meet a guy and have sex with him. Good for me. I'm not married".
