MEXICO CITY -- Shouting and cheering around a traffic circle moistened by a late-afternoon shower, 15,000 jubilant Mexicans chanted an appeal to the man who had just toppled 71 years of single-party rule: "Don't fail us!"

As fireworks exploded above him, Vicente Fox smiled down from a stage and promised: "I won't."

Two years later, the man whose campaign made "Today! Today! Today!" a national catch-phrase is pleading for patience. In an interview with The Associated Press, Fox said people may have unrealistic expectations about how fast he can transform Mexico.

"His promises of change that night got my attention," Ventura said. "But now I see that he's the same as all the other politicians. There's no difference at all."

Well Juan, you're not gonna make much of a fortune exporting bamboo backscratchers to the U.S. -- we went through that fad decades ago. Same thing with the Chia pet.

The change coming to Mexico is they are all moving here on the dole of course with the help of our great and illustrious president who refuses to put troops on the borders.

I think he meant "Transfer Mexico" (to America).

The change coming to Mexico is they are all moving here on the dole of course with the help of our great and illustrious president who refuses to put troops on the borders.

Failure to put troops on the border we unfurtunately share with a hostile nation during wartime is an outrage. The southern border should have been militarized a couple of decades ago, but now both borders need troops on them.

He said he still hoped that Congress would approve his proposals for energy and labor reform, and said President Bush assures him frequently that he still favors major changes in immigration policy.

Fotunately the vast majority of Americans disagree with Bush. Fox can go pound sand... and Bush is likely to be joining him after November, 2004 if he doesn't stop this nonsense with Mexico.

Bush is going to try to shove amnesty down our throats after the elections. Like father like son - a one term President.

"Juan Ventura, a 27-year-old Otomi Indian, hawks bamboo back-scratchers to passing motorists, just as he did that night on July 2, 2000, when he got caught up in the excitement over Fox."

Wonder if Juan was one of the peddler's selling Osmah masks and t-shirts on 9-12, celebrating the towers destruction and forever changing my mind about helping Mexico?

Those who voted for Fox are mad because he wasn't able to achieve the big amnesty (yet) that Jorge Bush promised. It isn't enough for Mexico that zillions of their people are already here, and our borders are open to zillions more, and yes, most are on the dole courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.

Why doesn't Mexico change by not shooting people at their own southern border.
The original Indians of Mexicao are used as slave labor as well.

So if they are changeing, hopefully it is for the better.

Maybe they all decided to stay home and make their own garden rather then come to live in ours.

Or maybe this one is better ----

Santa Anna is stern-faced and has his eyes open.

Vicente is too squinty and grinning.

Illegals

I come for visit, get treated regal,
So I stay, who care I illegal?
I cross border, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.
Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.
Welfare say, "You come no more,
We send cash right to your door."
Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep you healthy!
By and by, I got plenty money,
Thanks to you, American dummy.
Write to friends in motherland,
Tell them come as fast as you can.
They come in rags and Chebby trucks,
I buy big house with welfare bucks.
They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it gets better!
Fourteen families they moving in,
But neighbor's patience wearing thin.
Finally, white guy moves away,
Now I buy his house, and then I say,
"Find more aliens for house to rent."
And in the yard I put a tent.
Send for family (they just trash),
But they too, draw the welfare cash!
Everything is mucho good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.
We have hobby--it's called breeding,
Welfare pay for baby feeding.
Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free! We got no bills!
American crazy! He pay all year,
To keep welfare running here.
We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the white man race.
If they no like us, they can go,
Got lots of room in Mexico.
