Your point is well taken (#228 on the last thread). However, something as simple as an alert dog that sleeps in the child's room would take a lot of the worry away. I truly don't understand why parents don't take advantage of a dog's natural instinct to protect children.

I don't understand how someone comes into a home and STEALS a child! How many times does this happen? My parents let it be known that ANYONE who tried to harm us would pay, BIG TIME.

I also agree with you about the dog but DON'T remove the bark, DUH.

And, I hate to criticize the parents but if I had a houseful of children, I'd want to spend a little extra dough and get reputable handymen to work in and around my home.

True, you're right, even a little yappy dog will alert, frighten and possibly even bite. My friend's little yappy taco bell dog snuck up behind me and bit my ankle. That hurt and I'm no burglar.

Great point and it doesn't need to be one of these big dogs either if you're worried about your kids being bitten by big dogs. A toy is just as good, all it has to do is like to bark at anybody who isn't suppose to be there.
I got a pomeranian and I am a 28 year old female that lives alone. My little guy likes to bark at anyone entering the house he isn't familiar with and I know he will give me early warning to call the cops and get to my gun.
I remember when it was super windy the back door made a weird noise like it was trying to be opened and my little pom heard that right away and ran to the door barking to warn me of what was going on.
It's also a good idea to never leave your windows open on the first floor and just turn the air conditioning on at night.

After being stalked for three years, when I had children, then I got a mixed german shepard and she would lay down her life for any one of us. Thing is I had weapons in my home, the stalker used against me, if I had this wonderful companion, he would never been able to try and kill me.
