I'm almost 70 and these passings takes my breath away. I was watching Little Jimmie Dickins tonite on the Grand Ole Ophry and wondered how much time he has...

No, although her son Miguel Ferrer is an actor. Her son is an excellent actor -- he pretty much stole every scene he played in "The Stand."

Red was great - I remember his cowboy character - Deadeye? - was in a saloon and somebody rushed in and said "So-and-so's coming!" And the bartender says "Is he tough?" Amd Red says "Tough? I've seen him drink milk out of a dirty glass!"

Red was fantastic! Remember him as the hobo? A dealer in fine 'previously owned' cigars? Not Klem Kadiddlehopper, another name that slips my mind.

Thurl Ravenscroft of The Mellomen, sang the bassline in
This Ole House. Thurl is also the voice of Tony the Tiger(They're Greaat!) and sang
You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. Lots of Disney stuff as well.
J.D. Sumner, however holds the world record as the lowest bass singing voice.

Sad .. sad. She was classic .. and you can still hear her today on that cholesterol trimming Rx commercial .. where the good looking older guy strides out by the pool, with the 2 gals ogling him as he stretches and prepares to dive ... then bellyflops. She's singing .. "Are the stars out tonight ... I don't know if it's cloudy or bright .. 'cause I only have eyes ..... for you.. the moon ...etc."
She also made some guest shots on ER, when her hunky nephew, George Clooney, was on. She was one of a kind .. classy .. just classy. Say a prayer for Rosie .. on a wing and a song .. harmonizing with the angels. God Love You, Rosie.

I will always remember her standing behind some kind of arbor with a hedge to hide her pregnancy as she sang on the "Hit Parade". Yes, it seems silly now...but I prefer it to seeing pregnant women in the nude on the covers of magazines now. LOL

Freddie the Freeloader. Hilarious. I guess that's where Miles Davis got the idea for his blues tune of the same name.

I was about 15 years old when Red had his show on TV. Those June Taylor dancers danced through my head a lot back then. I actually feel sorry for the MTV generation. There are NO mysteries left for them to discover.

I remember the hobo - quite possibly the best of all - subtly nuanced. Red could be enjoyed on more than one level.

Red never had to stoop to vulgarity for humor, as most modern comedians do now.

Steven Wright one of the few: "I saw a sign "Breakfast Anytime!" "I said I'll have French Toast during the Renaissance!"

"There's no people like show people. They smile when they are low. Even with a turkey that you know will fold, You may be stranded out in the cold. Still you wouldn't trade it for a sack of gold.
Let's go on with the show!"
Let's hope Rosemary and Ethel Merman are getting acquainted!
