The defeat of a black House Democrat who opposed pro-Israel resolutions has sent shock waves through the party and raised concerns about a widening rift between blacks and Jews.
"It's going to have other implications in other races," says Rep. Earl F. Hilliard, Alabama Democrat, whose opponent raised more than $300,000 from Jewish donors outside the state. "I just don't think that the black community is going to sit still and let it happen."

I expect that most blacks have the intelligence to make this distinction, as Mr. Hilliard apparently does not.
They'd do the nation a major favor by ridding us of that nitwit and that opportunistic demagogue (I leave the choice of the category into which each falls to the reader).
Not according to your campaign finance reform law, Hank.
Oh, that's right. You'll let them speak, but you'll control when they speak.
As soon as people realize that Republicans are NOT trying to: reinstitute slavery, throw Jews back into the ovens, mandate that a women remain a shoeless pregnat homemaker, kill old and weak people, torch the surface of the earth, nor snear at them and make them feel badly about themselves (well, nix the last one, its just too much fun not to do...), the collapse will be inevitable.
I see the Isreali situation is beginning to unravel them... assuming the truth comes to light, I expect this to happen little by little.
It sure is tough to get your side of things out, when so many in the mass media agree with the other side..
You are right Mr Hilliard, they are going to drop their love of towelhead terrorists like a bad habit, or seek employment elsewhere.
If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

A more complete quote cited in a news report contains the following, highlighted addition:
"I see a future with a great deal of conflict between African-Americans and Jews in this country," he said. "It's going to get worse before it gets better. I don't think African-Americans are going to sit back and let this continue. There will be retribution."
This is a threat to people because of their religion and ethnic background. What white politician would get away with making an equivalent statement? Also, there is no mention of the Arab and Islamic support of Hilliard, McKinney, Jackson, or other pro-Palestinian candidates. Why this oversight?
Typical RINO.
Davis places the Republican party ahead of what's good for America.
Davis, and anyone who loves this country, should be working overtime to rid congress of McKinney...
Sounds like a free political system to me. Anyone who supports the PLO deserves to lose.
Very true. Democrats are united by a negative, that is, byt fear and abject hatred of Republicans. Republicans are united by a positive, that is, a collection of ideas that many believe in.
This is of course a broad generalization. Unfortunately, the Democrats way of doing things tends to turn out voters at a fantastic rate.
Unsurprisingly, the Freeper who decries "identity politics" does nothing but practice "identity politics" when it suits him.
FYI, there are no religious Jews on the Supreme Court and the people there with Jewish sounding last names are as much Jews as Christie Whitman is a Republican.
I think your idea stinks. And don't try to say it's humor, you're no Jonathan Swift.
Larrys Idea-Race baiting for Freepers
.....................
A modest proposal: Go to liberal black forums and start asking questions. Why are there no Black Democrats in the Senate? Why was Lieberman and not a Black Democrat picked for VP? What do we get for voting 91% Democrat? We are 13% of the population. Why does a group which is 2% of the population and votes 80% Democrat have a handful of Senators and we have none? Why did Clinton nominate Ginsberg to the Supreme Court and not one of us? Republicans put Blacks in positions of power, Democrats do not.How long are we going to put up with this?
Then go to a Jewish Democrat forum and paste in the replies....then back to the Black Democrat forum to post replies from them...and so on.
The more the merrier. Perhaps some freepers hadn't considered the possibilities of giving the left a taste of what they do to us.
Gotta run... on another forum now discussing how, now that vouchers are legal, we Democrats are going to handle keeping black kids out of our private religious schools without appearing to be racists.
Then I have to go to a Black Forum and provide them with links...
Ta-ta!

And an example:
.....................
Say, Blackman, let me holla at you for a sec. You wonder why that is we don't have a brother in the Senate? And why is it that they picked a damned **Jew over a brother for Gore's running-mate in 2000? Say, I'm getting sick of these fools taking us for granted, ya heard? And that boring-a** man still got 90% of our vote? I ain't havin' that no more! What about you?
No, FReepers. I'm NOT above playing just those types of games. I have no reason to lie to you, and I'm unashamed (because I'd be telling the overall truth, wouldn't I? If they want to lie and say that the Right wishes to take childrens' school lunches off of their plates and throw L'il Old Mrs. Margaret out on the street, I can play this card, can't I?). **Note to AdminModerator: That was for illustration purposes only. I'm a Zionist, so please don't get it twisted. Thanx.

LL,I agree with BenF, its despicable. Youre using the tactics of hate which I think most conservatives are opposed to. Perhaps a refuge for those without ideas, or ideas that need to be obscured. I dont think thats the realm of conservatism. I think youre more motivated by hatred.
rdb3, maybe the Jewish issue resonates with blacks, I'll take your word for it. But when you try to sell the Republican party as an alternate to unrepresented blacks, dont you risk the possibility that some may know, or have pointed out to them, the relative number of Republican blacks vs Democrat blacks (rather than Jews) in congress. Playing the race card, you're case will rest on Justice Thomas, not a favorite in the black community, and an overwhelming disparity of black Democratic congressmen.
Good luck, if I were you I'd stick to issues, like vouchers.James Carville would hand you your head on this issue. Not only would he prove you wrong on the Dem vs Rep representation issue, but he would reinforce forcefully the false perception of the Republican party as the home of racists and bigots.
I have no doubt you can stir up racial hatred ala Al Sharpton, and provide some support for the Islamic groups who are the underlying issue, but I don't see you gaining Republican votes.
I'm all ears.
Some other wedge issues are: school vouchers, slavery repariations, the US pulling out of the ICC, church and state issues.
I didn't create the animosity between blacks and Jews. Democrats did. Why after Crown Heights Al Sharpton has such power in the Democrat party that Hillary Clinton and other Democrats have to kiss his ring every election is beyond me.
Democrats all the time try to split Christian conservatives away from the rest of the party. That is why so many Democrats voted for McCain in the primary. They were not really going to vote for a Republican. Kristol and Podhoretz aided them in that attempt at division.
What are we supposed to do? Tell Democrats to kiss and make up?
Ideally, I think you attack the issue with facts, recognizing that you wont create a sea change overnight. And that there is a proportion of the black community (white too, but we dont talk about them) dependent to some degree on government programs .
Vouchers are an excellent issue. Theyre widely supported in the black community, and have been vocally opposed by the Dems. I think they may be the one winner right now, and would be the one Id emphasize. You only need one or two, and this is a pocketbook issue.
I think crime should be an exploitable issue, though it doesn't seem to work.
Economic issues abound, as does the role of blacks as victims in Democratic ideology, but those may be too subtle to exploit in all demographic groups. I suspect that Republican tax policy would work among younger middle class blacks.
Most important, conservative black leaders need to step up and take a proactive role nationally (Watts is a loss). Seeing Condoleezza Rice or Colin Powell taking a more active political role would be a huge plus. And when your Dem friends write them off a sellouts, you have to be there to correct them.
I think the biggest problem is a lack of black Republican leadership, particularly at the grassroots level, and a disrespect for what little there is as sellouts. Much of this has to come from the ground up, and has to fight the bias of both the media and much of the black community toward viewing Republicans as racists (a bias I think LLs idea bolsters). Id rather see you get your friends out to a county Republican party picnic, or organize your own group, than waste time playing the race card.
These arent perfect or short term solutions, but having a perfect solution isnt necessary to know something is wrong. As Thomas Sowell noted in an article on Ward Connerly (is he well received?) Tired of race?
Focus on race has meant focus on grievances. Other things that can advance or hinder the progress of all people get short shrift. Hyping group identity is a practice with a track record of polarization and disaster in countries around the world. Riots in India, civil war in Sri Lanka, massacres in Rwanda, and atrocities in the Balkans are just some of the recent history of havoc left by group identity politics.
What is the point of continuing to feed racial hype that benefits only a relative handful of race hustlers?
