LOL... I have not been to bed yet...! but Good Morning to you also! - Well my own overnight theory I just blew out of the water after finding out that Young did not live in the mobile home court and I have not verified that he is a sex offender yet.

I guess I will get ready to crash for a few hours. Have a good day!

Police know that Young worked in the neighborhood with Ricci, they are still trying to find out if he worked in the Smart home with Ricci.

It surprised me that Young was considered a sexual offender. Somehow, I just don't associate bank robbers with that type of perversity.

Goodnight. I hope you can get some rest. I finally did. :0)

Authorities say Young worked with Richard Ricci as a handyman in the Federal Heights area. That is the neighborhood where the Smarts live, however it is unknown at this time whether or not Young also worked in the Smart home

Well, maybe Young did see Elizabeth on his own. I wonder, why in the world, if someone wanted to take her, why did they break into the house in the middle of the night to take her? Why not just grab her off of the street? I hope Ricci is the main suspect and hope Young was not involved at all. We all know what was on his record and I hate to think of that pervert being the last person for that little girl to see.

Let me clear that up a little bit. If Ricci took her and killed her, that would be just as bad for his face to be the last one she saw. BUT, I'm thinking that if Ricci did it, it was for ransom and he got scared and just did away with her, not necessarily raped her. I know, wishful thinking, but if Young is a sex offender and is involved, I'm quite sure he did more than just kill her.

Isn't there anyone living in that trailer park who isn't an ex-con or a known sex offender?

It's a theme park.

Have the police mentioned anything about traffic cameras? I don't know if they use them in Utah, but it might be beneficial to look at the pictures taken by traffic cameras from the vicinity of the Smart's home and Ricci's trailer park for the days in question.

Young couldn't be anyone that has been
seen or described as possibly the perp
could he Brigette? Nor familiar with
the Smart home & have easy access, not
unless Ricci was in it with him. The
final ? to me is his sickly looks. Can
this pathetic, old, sick LOSER truly
raise your suspicions RE: Elizabeth? I
really want to know if you can explain
including him under suspicion--don't
mean to be unkind.

Just read that Young did some work in
that neighborhood with Ricci. Amazing
to me--he looks totally wasted! Still,
his looks are wrong for the actual one
who took Elizabeth. Is it true he has
a 17-yr-old son? Wonder how HE looks?

"I also think the police have doubts also now that he is not the one, but now they have to make sure he is not the one since he has told conflicting stories. Ricci may be trying to hide something that is completely unrelated to the Smart case."

Good point. At the very least, Ricci has diverted the investigation into determining whether or not he is involved. The hard discrepancy between the mechanic's claims and Ricci's claims about the whereabouts of the vehicle during the time of Liz's abduction must be resolved before Ricci can be eliminated as a potential suspect.

Perhaps Ricci needed his vehicle in a rush because he received a delivery and needed to get it planted?

If Dick secretly lent the vehicle to someone else, but didn't know what they were going to do with it, or they lied to him, I would think it is in his best interest to tell the police everything he knows. Better to be a witness than a suspect.

If the vehicle was taken by Ricci for something criminal, but not related to the abduction, Ricci would naturally continue denying he had the vehicle. He has nothing to lose. It would just be incredibly unlucky for him that the abduction took place while he had secretly taken the vehicle out of the shop.

Of course, if he is involved in the abduction, he will continue to deny he took the jeep. Especially if there is incriminating forensic evidence. He would know whether or not there was any.

Anything is possible. I think it would be in Dick's best interest to tell what he knows if he is not involved, or at least unknowingly involved. It would be an unusual experience for though, he's not had much experience with being innocent of the crime he's being suspected of committing. Perhaps he will just react in the usual manner, deny everything. ;^)

Is Young a sex offender? I've only heard where he was in prison for bank robbery.

"This case has more twists and turns than a Perry Mason episode."

Life truly is stranger than fiction in this case.

If Dick is involved there may be accomplices, the woman who called the mechanic, possibly Angela, and the man who picked up Dick from the auto shop. This mystery man could be holding Liz.

Two thoughts I haven’t seen mentioned here:
1. Romero in that interview clip (that I believe Bella provided a link to) said he didn’t know Ricci (even though I think he lived only 2 doors away), but there were reports that the two HAD been known to associate together. So perhaps Romero can be seen to be lying about that.
2. In watching another program on another criminal, they mentioned it was actually quite common for sexual offenders/rapists to start out with burglaries, before proceeding to actual physical contact with their victims. Therefore, Ricci, with his burglary record, is not as far-fetched a suspect as some may believe.
