Yes - its history is often overlooked, parked between WWII and Desert Storm and 'modern' wars.
They were so ill-equipped compared to today's weapons and comforts.
Supply lines were poor as they crawled up the peninsula ridge by ridge; fortunate to have even leftover WWII "C" rations to eat, and no hot meals.

There were indeed tens of thousands of (literally) drugged up Chinese forces, attacking during the night, night after night, for maximum effect - bugles blaring, they overran positions with ease, killing whatever they could in their path and charging on.

The battle at the Chosin Reservoir alone highlights the mettle of the American fighting man, as well as Heartbreak Ridge.

Love the sign you posted about the latter - nothing like American humor!!
