The NAACLP is a Democratic Party house organ. President Bush doesn't owe Kwaisi Mfume or Julian Bond a thing. I can't recall the last time they voted for him.

Bush should have simply replied that he does not patronize racist organizations.

Civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson also voiced his dismay with Bush. "We have a government that is enfranchised by miscounted or uncounted votes."

When is this idiot going to learn to count?

"Let's see. There I was, sitting around the table with foreign leaders, looking at Colin Powell and Condi Rice.
Yeah," Bush said.

He is such a wit...I love it !!

""We have a government that is enfranchised by miscounted or uncounted votes. Even though it lost the election, it operates as if it has a mandate to take our rights," Jackson said during the convention on Monday."

This was not a spontaneous statement by the "mouth". He must be carrying 3x5 cards!

Are people actually stupid enough to believe this? Most Democrat black people vote 30 or 40 times in one election, doesn't Jackson know that yet? Someone should clue him in.

Why would Bush want to rub shoulders with a bunch of racist, DNC liars?

Some of the criticism that hurled at Bush upon his decision to appoint Rice and Powell was that they would be token minorities who would have no real power, but that assertion was quickly discounted with intimate consultation with Bush on all aspects of foreign affairs, particularly that involving the escalating crisis in the Middle East.
Had to eat crow on that one, eh?

Shelton told United Press International that while his organization celebrates Rice and Powell's role in the administration, it recognizes that they have no impact on domestic policy important to blacks.
-1- Some people simply refuse to be satisfied.
-2- And does Rod Paige have no impact on domestic policy important to blacks? I repeat, some people refuse to be satisfied.

Shelton, sit on it. Most Americans have a life apart from the protest community.

Your mission today is to find a more poorly written sentence.

500,000 members is .00178% of the population of the US, this is not a significant number, even if some individuals think it is.

I would suggest a membership drive. There does not seem to be a great interest in the NAACP even within the African-American community. Their membership is less than 2% of the Blacks in the US.

What is ain't.

Bush should spend his time doing things that help the country, such as helping defeat AB 1493 in Ca. what crap.Vote for Bill Simon

I have read in different articles that Bush only got 10% of the black vote in 2000. I wrote every author of every article I could find to back it up, none replied. I wrote a dozen black activists the same question and no one wrote back. I asked Freepers if they could find any data, no one responded with any information. I searched google every which way looking for proof Bush only got 10% of the vote. I looked at exit polling from all over the country and still I could not prove it. 10% of the black vote? Prove it!

One week we have the NEA meeting in Dallas. 2 weeks later, we have the NAACP meeting in Houston. This is painful. Ah, well, at least GW will be back in August.

"Some of the criticism that hurled at Bush upon his decision to appoint Rice and Powell"

Don't you love the "unbiased news reporting"? There aren't many absolutes in life, but I am pretty sure no one was "hurling criticism" at Bush for appointing Colin Powell. Pure nonsense made to look like news reporting. Powell and Rice were universally hailed and you wouldn't "hurl" criticism if your biggest concern was that they might not have enough power. Bizarre left wing propoganda.

Bush did attend the 2000 NAACP convention. Their response was to run that race-baiting Byrd ad. After that, he owes them nothing.

To what end would the President address this hateful group of malcontents? There is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING he could ever say or do that would draw even a polite round of applause.

Sean Hannity made the point this afternoon that the naalcp gets away with speech that no other group would. I might add, the naalcp gets away with speech that most of us wouldn't even dream of, let alone deliver.

ANY appearance of the President at this hatemongering get-together would only give the libs a hateful headline.

Bad strategy for W. He should have videotaped a message, or sent Cheney, or Rice or Powell.....Laura would have been a great choice. He let them set him up.

Another appropriate response: "I'll go and address the NAACP when they apologize for the James Bird add they ran in 2000"
