THAILAND, BANGKOK -- Police suspect an Islamic group was involved in the bombing of a train in southern Thailand, the national police chief said Tuesday -- suggesting for the first time a link between Muslim activists and a rash of violence in the area. The small bomb, left in a box on the train, exploded Monday when the train was at Yala station. Two security guards who were inspecting the suspicious package were wounded when it blew up. Muslims are a majority in the south of Thailand, but make up just 4 percent of the country's 62 million people, who are predominantly Buddhists. Police chief Gen. Sant Sarutanond said his forces had expected "some retaliation" following the arrests on Sunday of an Islamic leader, Adoon Hayeed Halor, who belonged to a former separatist group, the Pattani United Liberation Organization. Adoon's comrades have banded together as the Islam Pattani Mujahedeen, although the little-known group has not claimed responsibility for any of the recent violence in Thailand's Muslim-dominated south. Sant's comments are the government's first hint that Islamic militants may be involved in the violence, including drive-by shootings that have left 10 policemen and two civilians dead.

They are messing with the wrong country if they try this crap in Thailand. Thai justice is about as harsh as Muslim justice.

And the Buddhists remember the destruction of the Bamiyan statues by the jihadis.

So I guess the Thais must be supporters of Israel, correct? Isn't the argument that the Arabs/Muslims hate the US because we support Israel? Why do they hate the Thais?
To: swarthyguy
Sorta makes you wish that the Buddhist warrior monk sects destroyed by Nobunaga and finally by Hideyoshi( who before becoming totalitarian and turning all the free peasants into serfs instituted "sword control" in Japan) were still around. You could turn them into an anti Islam mercenary force

NOn islamic Buddhists with significant cultural affinity for Hindu India good enough?
To: weikel
Yes. For death sentences, offer a choice of the Samurai or the Guillotine.
To: swarthyguy
AH, those *evil Hindus* again! Shoulda known! That dastardly HinJew alliance strikes!
To: Black Agnes
They do all this because the koran insists on killing them.
Koran, sura 9.5:
So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

This bombing happened on Monday, July 8 and the Thai police already figured out the 'who' and the 'why'.
Maybe they could help our FBI investigate the LAX stooting.

When the Thais say "let's talk", you talk.
They should send some Thai interrogators to Gitmo. "Party's over boys."
