The article says that she ``did not report the rape'', but she still could have pressed charges. Since she was unconcious she may not have recalled the attack. Or she could have been intimidated by Haidl's appartent attitude that he is above the law by his father's position in the PD.

It's concievable that the police found out about the attack by these guys bragging about it or showing the video to their friends. The victim may have then chosen to press charges after being informed by the authorities.

Finally, the use of the drug to incapacitate the victim would probably automatically trigger charges, unless the girl specifically told police that she consented to take the drug. Hope this helps.

The Mothers and Fathers Italian Association has a punishment regimen which would assure a positive outcome. For those who are not familiar I suggest that you read "The Vallachi Papers".

I for one would like to see these young gentlemen dressed up in a "girlie" fashion and introduced to a prison population who would visit the same treatment, (sans the unconsiousness draft. Better they're awake!!!) on them.

The article plays up the fact that the 17 year old is a "model" teen and holding up as well as can be expected. They are trying to turn the rapist into a victim.

This is like Ma Barker trying to elicit sympathy because she's was a mother.

She probably feels very ashamed at what happened and wonders if it was 'her fault'. She needs to be supported and told that these animals drugged her, then took advantage of her. It is NOT her fault, and I hope she'll be supported so that she can comfortably give evidence against these guys!

That statement did more to undermine my faith in the Justice system than O.J. getting a pass.

"Date rape" drugs such as Rohypnol (not available in the USA) belong to the benzodiazepine class (like Valium and Xanax) and their use is associated with impressive short-term amnesia. Especially Rohypnol--I would guess that's the one these guys used. They bring it in from Mexico.

Was she drugged and did not even know it happened until much later?
