Tribute To HEROES

.

If there's anything that identifies and personifies all military people, it's the dogtags.
It's one of the first things we get, and sometimes it's the last reminder of who we are.
They signify our unity of purpose and our dedication to our country.

The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics,
beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals,
is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women -
and that is the force that the USO so serves.

Andy,I read your letter to Snow Bunny that came with the Monday Mail Call. Marine, I'd like to ask you to register and come on in as a poster to FR,especially to the USO. We want to hear more from you and be able to talk to you. There are a lot of Nam Vets here as well as the many supporters of all us Vets and active duty troops.

Good Morning, Gang!

Your letters touched me. It's good to know how much Jim Robinson, Snow Bunny, and all the rest of the Canteen freepers have meant to you and are supporting you as you defend our country and our freedom. But YOU are Our heroes!

Thank you all for your service to this great nation. May God bless you all, and may you all come home safe.

Scully, I don't know why I'm attracted to BAD BOYZ, but I think you're cute! I'm glad you enjoyed the beach party in California. It was fun!

Today's feeble attempt at humor:

So this guy was mowing his lawn when he noticed that the blade had
stopped. He got down on his knees to see what was wrong when his saw the
frisbee lodged in the blade. The man reached in to grab it when all of a
sudden the blade started going.
Unfortunateley the man had to get his left
arm and left leg amputated......

He's all right now.

Tissue anyone? I love Mail Call Monday. You know what's funny is Mail Call Monday's are our favorite days, when we get to learn about our readers. It seems FReeper Fridays are their favorite days, where they get to learn about us. What's the psychology behind that?

Hey girls...Glenn's family needs the peacenik volcano treatment. We love you Glenn and we support you. I'm sure your family loves you too. They will come around. You're our hero...don't ever forget that. People who don't support the war, get sacrificed to the volcano around here. It's for the good of the country, don't you think? I'll pray for you and your family Glenn. I pray you can find "peace" with them. God bless and take care of yourself.

This hug is for you Glenn.

<--------click on the volcano and enjoy the ceremony

Guys, I gotta run. My kids just woke up. I've got company coming for lunch so I need to get busy. I'll be back later. Y'all have a great day.

I spent a fantastic day with Fallguy and Snow Bunny. They are all I imagined and more.

I picked them up at their motel and we went to a local restuarant for breakfast. Afterwards we went to my place for a while and they met my wife, youngest daughter and the dogs. Snow Bunny and spent a little time "talking" with Victoria.

Then we did a quick nickle tour of the Portland area, basically a circuit on the east side, through downtown around the west side and back. Snow Bunny learned how to start a grill and barbeque chicken and brats for dinner. Over dinner they got to meet the other two kids and my daughters boyfroend. Everyone in the family just loved them. We talked about the Canteen, politics, religion, Canteeners, Oregon, my background and family and their background and families. The time flew by way too quickly.

I have to count those 12 hours as some of the most memorable in my life. It was just great, you couldn't ask to meet two nicer people.

Snow Bunny and FallGuy, it was indeed a pleasure to meet the both of you. I was nervous as hell anticipating this meeting but you both made me feel like I was just meeting family. Thanks for a great day and for introducing Paddington to us.

You're in for a real treat Tonk.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Sorry I haven't been around.
I'm in San Francisco now with my daughter and her husband seeing the sights so I don't have much time to get online.
The Fresno Tailgate Party was the most wonderful time I've ever had, and I didn't even have a hang-over afterward!
Snow Bunny, I'm looking forward to the Oregon Tailgate Party!
You and FallGuy be careful!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Joe-USMC, and Steve-USArmy:

"Get the best jokes from Mr_Magoo and Tomkow6 where my sides spilt from laughing so hard."

"Thank you for variety of things your Canteen offers each day. Those jokes are the best too. That day Mr_Magoo and Tomkow6 had a joke off, I didn’t stop laughing for hours."

That is why I do what I do here. You, and the rest of the Military are willing go into harm's way for me. The hell holes that you are stuck in while in the field are familiar to me. I was there too, a long time ago. If I can lift your spirit, even for a little while, then I have done my part.

There was once an aspiring veterinarian who put himself
through veterinary school working nights as a taxidermist.

Upon graduation, he decided he could combine his two
vocations to better serve the needs of his patients and
their owners, while doubling his practice and, therefore,
his income.

He opened his own offices with a shingle on the door saying,
"Dr. Jones, Veterinary Medicine and Taxidermy -- Either way,
you get your dog back!"

Great to read all the letters on Monday Mail Call.

Thanks for putting the troops and vets out front and center each day.

Our troops and vets deserve nothing less!

SALUTE to our Armed Forces and Vets around the world. May GOD Protect and Bless each one.

I wrote last night that I would be submitting another "Sea-Story" but after proof-reading it, this particular story does not rise to my standards of a good post. It would probably offend some so it's in the trash. I'll work on a more respectable one for the next time.

I don't have much time to write my letters today. :( Sniff...

To Jeff...US Navy.....you are very wise to listen to your elders. It was a loving thing for your Grandpa to send you here. I'm happy to know you and others like you enjoy it here. We thank you for being there when our country needed you, and I want you to pass along a big thank you to your Grandpa and your Dad also. May God bless your beautiful, loyal, patriotic family for generations to come. Take care of yourself Jeff. Hurry home and stay safe.

To Scott....US Navy.....You must be an exceptional human being to live through an unstable, uncertain childhood and come out as beautiful a human being as you are. I'm so impressed with your ability to set goals, your passionate committment to our country at your young age, and your dedication to your chosen profession. It's such an honor for us on Mondays to read about your lives. I always feel as I would feel if I was related to you all. The way you feel when your son, husband or brother does something really special with their life or accomplishes great things...my heart gets so full of pride it could bust, and I don't even know you. LOL I AM so very proud of you. We all are. Please keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing. I don't know if you have a family now or not, but if you don't, we will be your family. If you are ever close to one of us, we will take you in, in a heart beat. :) (That's no joke and I'm very serious. Remember that ok?). Be careful Scott and keeping doing a great job for the Navy. We love you.

On a very personal note, I can't pass up this opportunity to express my love for children...God has very special plans for each human being born. Even those with no parents, or parents who don't want them, or parents with problems. Whatever your history, you must believe and know just how special you are. For you to be such a great guy and to have gone through what you did.....you have survived it and you are an awesome adult now. I have a feeling about you. There are some special things planned for your life. God bless you Scott.

Scully and the Pirates...I'm glad you enjoyed the party. If you guys ever find any buried treasure on your Naval journeys, please remember me. I prefer sapphires. Rubies are nice too. Thanks for your fun notes. I look forward to them. Take care and write us again soon. We'll be thinking about you.
