As well he should have been. If you don't think that walking is part of golf then you must think that running isn't part of football.

Here's an experiment for you. Come up to CT and use a cart for four days in a row of 18 holes. Then for the next four days, walk the course for four days and if you'd like carry your clubs.

Then get back to me on whether or not walking is part of the game.

it is not discrimination to have a club that is PRIVATELY owned. Is it discriminatory for the United Negro College Fund to give scholarships money to only African-Americans students? I as a caucasian do not think so. But that is just me.

Check out this Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel ARTICLE where the sports writer smeared BOTH Tiger Woods AND Republicans.

What I find gutless is for writers and commentators rail on Woods while having done nothing themselves. Woods isn't the one with the problem, they are, therefore they are the ones that should be trying to solve it, not Woods.

Gutless, too, because they hide in the shadows and then scream when someone doesn't do something that would ease their consciences.

Has anyone seen or heard any "talking head" tv or radio personality say that Augusta National is well within their right to have a rpiavte club?

I haven't. I see many defend Tiger, but they always lead into it by saying, "I agree, discrimination is wrong...blah...blah...".

I think there is no way Augusta National will cave in to this.

Surely you don't believe Tiger has some obligation to women per Augusta - or any other club for that matter?

Absolutely not. Asides from being the best golfer in the world, I think Tiger is a creature of the media who's only obligated to the folks signing his checks.

The right to discriminate--to make your reasoned choices among alternative courses and people--is the very essence of freedom. Apparently some people cannot even accept the idea of private choices in private ventures--in this case a privately funded, privately maintained membership club. People need to express their total contempt for this sort of columnist. The sad thing is that he thinks he is fighting bigotry, when in fact he is illustrating it in every paragraph.

Why doesn't the LPGA let men play?

I don't know about golf but when it came to bowling, the ladies said it wasn't fair to keep women out of the men's ABC because women could compete equally with the men.

By the same token, these same ladies said it wouldn't be fair to let men into the women's WIBC because men would have an advantage over the women.

For some people, the word fair appears to have a rather elastic definition depending entirely on the situation in which it's being used.

Not true...I think the older guys (e.g., Nicklaus and Palmer) were against the Casey Martin exception.

Tiger, like practically all of the current tour players, was in fact against Casey Martin using the cart.

I recall that Tigger was vehemently against a semi handicapped golfer who wanted to use a cart.

Vehemently? I think your recollection is faulty.

Private Associations are a freedom in this country. They don't have to be open to anyone other than those they wish.

And don't be surprised if Tiger lives in one of those exclusive, private residential communities that have rules and regulations that descriminate based upon the size of a person's wallet.

Just look at the hatchet job performed on Jack E. Robinson in Jamaica Plain.

What's that all about?

Correct. And Martin was his roommate in college and they remain friends. IMO, Tiger was right, organisations have a right to make their own rules.

When there was slavery, was that just the way it was?

GAG!!!!

Yet Woods, intensely protective and careful about his image, constantly refuses to take public stands on any issues.

You need to read your own article, dude. He said they have a right to do what they want. I guess it's not a stand unless he regurgitates the liberal, PC bile you wallow in.

GMTA. I cancelled that rag (SI) about 15 years ago.

Almost all of the NY Post is conservative except the 'entertainment' and sports sections, which are those that cater most closely to the sheeple. Where is Dick Young when you need him?

Rules and regulations? Or maybe just the price of the property?

The media is trying to force Tiger to adopt their position. They are going to beat this drum about how controversial his stand is until he becomes their spokesperson condemning this club.
