Remember when Tiger refused to be used as a black prop by Bill Clinton on the Golden Anniversary of Jackie Robinson's entry into the big leagues?
Jackie Robinson was a Republican, btw.
So Jackie Robinson was a republican? I didn't know that. I remember reading not too long ago that he had become quite bitter as an old man, and would not recite the pledge of allegiance or stand when he heard it. I can't even remember where I read that so I don't know how much creedence to attach to it. Thought you might know.
I did watch Ken Burns' "Baseball", and the episodes that chronicled Jackie's admission into the white league were heart wrenching. He seemed so determined to see the thing through, but the anguish in his eyes was very obvious indeed.
