Bush Twins Carded, Beer Confiscated

First twins Barbara and Jenna Bush apparently learned little from their scrape last year with Texas lawmen, who were called by the Bush-hating manager at an Austin Tex Mex restaurant who spotted the underage duo ordering Margaritas with fake ID.

They've been luckier this summer but not a whole lot more careful, according to a source at one Arlington, Va., pub not far from the White House.

The bar, Iota's, was carding very thoroughly one recent Thursday night, so the presidential twins' "fake IDs must be sweet," the source tells the magazine Washingtonian Online.

"When a bartender recognized the twins, he took their beers away," the e-zine reports. "But the twins still stuck around."

The Bush girls, who turn legal later this year, reportedly visited the bar with "a pack of pals" to see a folk band called Brown Couch, whose guitarist attends Yale with Barbara.

Ummm, you think having a dad and grandfather as Yale Alumni helped her admission?

Probably. As it would with any other student whose Dad and Grandad also attended Yale. Happens all the time with all the Ivy League colleges. But even with her family credentials, if she couldn't hack it, she wouldn't still be there.

And as far as the contention that the girls are always messing things up for their Daddy, how many times has this happenend, maybe 3 in the two years he's been a candidate and then President? Doesn't sound like they are lushes to me! If they were, we'd have heard about it because the media would have been gleeful in getting the word out!

Reagan's kids didn't all agree with his politics and certainly did little to behave. I seem to recall some journalist (Hunter Thompson?) later bragging about doing coke with Ron Reagan under a table someplace.

Another posed for Playboy.

Read the story again, my friend. It clearly says that they were arrested in Texas on the fake ID charge last year. If memory serves one of the two, the one that goes to U of T, pleaded guilty to it. That doesn't sound like unsubstantiated BS to me. It sounds remarkably like a fact.

Does anyone have any evidence that Bush is “embarrassed” by his daughters or cares whether the drink or not? I don’t see why he should be embarrassed anymore than if they got a speeding ticket. After all speeding is, “ILLEGAL”. Actually, a speeding ticket would be worse because it might imply they were endangering others.

If Bush does not care about this (as he shouldn’t) then all this talk about them “embarrassing” their father and being “immature” is just silly.

Ron Jr. did coke with Hunter Thompson under a table someplace, and Jenna Bush could probably drink Hunter Thompson under a table someplace. That's progress I suppose.

The bars in New Haven were pretty careful

No kidding!...(except "Jocko Sullivans" on Chapel Street...now I'm really dating myself)

usually went to New York state, where the drinking age was 18.

Now yer talkin'!

These are not things I learned from reading a book.

I know.

He was legally drinking in other states.

Anyone know what is the legal drinking age on military bases these days?

Your charge that she could "drink him under the table" is entirely unsubstantiated. Not just because of Thompson's high tolerance but more because there have been absolutely no charges of the girls being "trashed" or drinking large quantities of alcohol.

Gee, I wonder who's moderating today.
Some people can't take a joke.

I guess not.
Also, it's not just his graphics that aren't welcome.
This is hard to believe but...

"They're just plain selfish."

Absolutely. Can you imagine having all the opportunities that those girls have, yet wasting your time (and embarrassing your family) hanging out in bars in quest of booze???? It's pathetic.

It's also amazing that the twin's drinking escapades are causing the Bush family more trouble than Laura's support of Roe v. Wade. That's even more pathetic.

This story needs more than the word of some unnamed pub owner in Arlington Va., an ultra-liberal burb of D.C., for me to give it credit.

Hypocrisy is when you claim to be a pro-woman President
and you molest young interns.
