Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday addressed his countrys armed forces through the Peoples Army and the Arab Soldier magazines, on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the foundation of the Syrian Arab Army.
In his address to the Armed Forces, Assad stressed the prominent role played by the army in Syrias history, on the way to ultimate victory. Assad further emphasized that Army Day is a day of the homeland, stressing his commitment to the policy of his father, the late President Hafez al-Assad and the determination to enjoy a better future.
The Syrian leader underlined that the peace which Damascus aspires to achieve is the just and comprehensive peace, based on the resolutions of international legitimacy, including the Israeli withdrawal to the June 4, 1967 lines, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He said Israel has always committed massacres and its history is full of massacres committed against Arabs. The president also stated that such continuous aggression would serve as a catalyst to raise the level of readiness and alert to perform what duty dictates, and added that nothing would stop the efforts to reach Arab solidarity, according to the Syrian Arab news agency.
Assad further conveyed that the Golan would remain Arab Syrian territory, and the serious work would continue until the goals for liberation and restoration of rights and the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace are achieved.
I see what you mean.
His dad solved the Palestinian problem, at least Syria's Palestinian problem. Rather effectively I might add.
Not bloody likely...
