Chinese Communist Jiang Zemin to be guest at Bush Texas Ranch in October
World Journal, Sing Tao | 8-1-02 | self

Posted on 08/01/2002 10:36:47 PM PDT by tallhappy

It's reported all over the Chinese media that Jiang Zemin will be making a house call at President Bush's Crawford Texas ranch in October.

Jiang, the General Secretary of China's Communist party who is referred to as the "President" of China was known to be planning a US visit in October to coincide with the APEC meeting in Mexico. But it was never known, and was a matter of some speculation, whether he would get the peronsal invite to the President's ranch.

The White House hadn't said anything about it and still hasn't.

Who spilled the beans is a State Department official at the Asean meeting taking place in Brunei, where Colin Powell and other State officials have been this week.

It's front page news in Hong Kong papers like Sing Tao -- Jiang to visit Bush Ranch in Texas.

I wonder if the White House is happy about this. Is this a State department underling trying to make sure this visit happens? By telling reporters it is happening, it rather forces Bush's hand. It would look bad now to not invite the creep.

Here is the link to the World Journal article on it. It should be around October 24.

HEADLINE: Jiang gets invitation to Bush's Texas ranch

BYLINE: Greg Torode in Washington

BODY:

President Jiang Zemin has secured an invitation to meet US President George W. Bush in October at Mr Bush's Texas ranch - one of the most sought after summit locations for world leaders.

Washington government sources confirmed the agreement after a meeting in Brunei on Wednesday between US Secretary of State Colin Powell and Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan. Final arrangements for Mr Jiang's trip are still being made but he is expected to travel to the isolated 640-hectare ranch in Crawford shortly before the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation forum leaders' summit in Mexico in late October.

His stay is likely to be strikingly different in tone from the cautious, business-like visit of his political heir, Vice-President Hu Jintao, in early May.

The ranch invitation has long been sought by Mr Jiang, who is believed to be keen on a colourful US summit as a possible cap to his political career.

As well as providing a wealth of photo-opportunities, a visit to the ranch allows Mr Jiang greater access to Mr Bush at close quarters in his favourite surroundings, and carries with it the suggestion of a strong relationship.

As such, the ranch has so far played host to a handful of leading US allies, including British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I'd imagine that Hu Jintao hopes Jiang makes it an extremely long visit.

Good thing it isn't White-Tail season, since the shots of a .30-.30 or hot .270 can be heard for more than 10 miles if the hill country wind is blowing "just right".

But I'd bet the tenderloin of venison will be prepared, along with some good 'ol CenTex brisket, and maybe some dee-licious fried catfish steaks with sweet and sour hoisin sauce for dippin'.

Maybe the old fart will figure out that trying to kill all of us ain't such a grand idea after all... we just may burn all of our cookbooks...

What Chinese leader said: "If the American people had the moral authority they think they have, they would have thrown Clinton out?"

Nah, I think he's always been jealous that Deng got a cowboy hat and he didn't.

Yeah, you gotta love someone with the moral integrity to massacre demonstrating students.

But it was for the good of the Party, er, country!

He was THE butcher he ordered it I don't doubt that but Deng went closer to a free market economy then anyone would have thought possible( Jiang seems to be one of the few commie hardliners Deng didn't exile or execute). Besides the average Chinese is a hardcore capitalist Deng has to get a lot of credit for that. An overthrow of Deng in Beijing would just lead to China being ruled by local commie PLA warlords( whenever a dynasty was overthrown by rebellion in China it always broke up into warring states historically) it would not have been good for China.

Plus if the Shah had the guts to massacre those students trying to overthrow him the world would be a much better place.

Hopefully, the boorish peasant will ask for a hankie if needed.
This kind of public behavior would ruin even a Texan's appetite!

If you mean gov't controlled crony capitalism, where those with the guanxi make the money, and the peasants get stuck in abject poverty paying 90% of their income in taxes, sure, Deng was the most free-market.

Besides the average Chinese is a hardcore capitalist Deng has to get a lot of credit for that.

Except for the growing number who are so screwed by the crony capitalism they're starting to think "Maybe Communism wasn't so bad..."

An overthrow of Deng in Beijing would just lead to China being ruled by local commie PLA warlords( whenever a dynasty was overthrown by rebellion in China it always broke up into warring states historically) it would not have been good for China.

No, he just postponed the inevitable collapse of the Party. It's still gonna happen, and no one really knows whats going to take its place when it goes.

Plus if the Shah had the guts to massacre those students trying to overthrow him the world would be a much better place.

The Shah was a bastard, but I guess he was our bastard. The average Iranian has been screwed by both regimes. The torturers just wear different uniforms.

Zhou Enlai was the last decent Chinese Communist. He was able to help counter Mao's blind ideology, and Zhou actually seemed to be interested in moving China forward, not just promoting Communism. Too bad these days we're stuck with such uninspired morons as Jiang and Hu.

It's like this, jackass: go to any source of information about Chinese leaders and you'll find what I've said to be true. If it's "to much" [sic] for you, maybe you should find another way to amuse yourself. Since you obviously know everything, it shouldn't be "to" [sic] hard.

If you'd have taken the time to read my previous posts on this thread, you'd see that I'm no big fan of the Communists either then or now. But you didn't let that stand in your way. Always quick with a condescending remark and a putdown, you decided to label me a "lying propagandist." Until you can post something of relevance, which clearly excludes your opinion, you can put your thumb back where the sun doesn't shine and release your frustrations at a location that doesn't bother those of us with the proper number of chromosomes.
