Muslims like Kabbani and Duran are often denounced by "mainline" Muslim groups when they speak out-and they can be in physical danger. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) bashed Duran's book in a press release and questioned whether he was Muslim by suggesting that he had a "mysterious identity." After reading the CAIR assessment, a militant sheikh, 'Abdu-I-Mun-im AbuZant, called Duran an "apostate" in a Jordanian newspaper and issued what many considered an edict for him to be killed."

Anyone can come into Canada almost without papers, and walk across the border. Profile??? I think so!!

With all due respect, I think the above is really not the way it is.

I live in Alberta, and I have been searched on many different occassions, by the US immigration while I was entering(or trying to) your great country.

Profiling doesn't seem to help, as I am a white, born and bred Canadian. I show my CDN. passport, birth certificate, and photo i.d. I own property in the US, and spend a large part of the year there.

Maybe, if the US immigration would tighten up on the Arab men illegally in your country now, it would help.

Regards

"Mr. Green's comments are racist generalizations and incite hatred against an identifiable group by portraying a distinct segment of Canadian society as a fifth column. In the aftermath of September 11th, and in an environment that has seen a substantial Muslim backlash documented by both our organization and police services, Mr. Green's statements are a dangerous incitement to anti-Muslim and anti-Arab violence."

You know in the aftermath of Sept. 11 I'm more concerned with the hatred coming out of the Muslim community.

Appreciate your remarks, and they make me feel better. I live in the Cascade area, not far from the great Canadian border and know the border there is VERY secure, but there are so many miles of totally un-supervised areas that I refer to. America totally appreciates Canada for a neighbor, and I hope always will.

Islam is not about truth. It's about domination and aggression. They always will blame and attack others. Never for a second do they consider that they cause 95% of their problems. Not some outsider "infidels".

Damn, I think you got it summed up rather nicely, there!-)

When a caller criticized President George Bush's vision of the Middle East as 'commendable but impractical,' Mr. Green told the caller, 'Fine, Monar (sic), then keep on killing yourselves. But leave us alone.'

Oh, for crying out loud! What's wrong with that?

I'll believe there are moderate Muslims when I see a majority Muslim country that allows its people freedom, basic human rights, and free expression of ideas. The only "moderate" Muslims are those in the minority.

radical Islam is an insane murder cult, and "moderate" Islam is its Trojan Horse in the West?"

Well said!

I just can't afford to trust any of them, since our govt is still in PC Uber Alles mode.

Is CAIR-CAN so divorced from reality that it does not understand the principle of freedom of speech in Western democracies?

I'm sorry I must be more than a little thick this morning. But this sentence really doesn't make any sense to me.

The only "moderate" Muslims are those in the minority.
My point(and my only point) is that there are Muslims out there that support the radical islamists and their war on the west. That they're a minority I'll grant you, they may even be a tiny minority. But they are there and should get our support.
This war that has been forced on us is being fought on many fronts, B-52 strikes and Army Rangers are just one way of fighting this. The likes of Sheikh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani are attacking it(radical islam) on another front, and the threat to Kabbani and those who agree with him is just as real if not more so as it is to us.
Remember the old saying, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

You could of asked the same question of the soviets or any of the various dictators down through the ages.Remember that the rights enshrined in the bill of rights is a very new idea given 5,000 years.

What I am saying is that Muslims only "behave" like the rest of the civilized world when they are living in countries in which they are in the minority, and thus, don't run things. In all countries which are run by Muslims, you find a lack of rights, freedoms, and prosperity that is appalling. If we were to wake up tomorrow to find Muslims running things in the US, our constitution, rights, and freedoms would be right out the door. A moderate Muslim is one who's biding his time until he is powerful enough to force his way on you.

Please re-read my comment.

My point is that WESTERN DEMOCRACIES have the principle of freedom of speech. These complaining Muslims live in Canada, not in the USSR, or the PRC. And they are living in the 21st Century, not 5,000 years ago.

They can't make others shut up just because they don't like what is being said.

Some "love" from CAIR:

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant, " he said. "The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.
"
