RALEIGH, N.C. -- A college religion professor defended his book on the Quran on Thursday, a day after state legislators voted to ban public money for a freshman reading assignment centered on the text.
Michael Sells' book "Approaching the Qur'an: The Early Revelations," is required reading for about 4,200 incoming freshmen and transfer students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this month. New students may decline to read the book and write essays explaining their decision.

I wonder what CAIR thinks about the "anti-Christian bigotry" in Islamic countries...
CAIR is a terrorist group, and should be shut down, and their leaders arrested, or deported.

CAIR could care less about "anti-Christian" bigotry in Muslim countries--that is part and parcel of Islam--
tolerance preached while a minority (as in the USA), totalitarianism practiced when a majority (as in every Muslim country). The latter, of course, results in many, many dead infidels.

Meanwhile, the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations pointed to the North Carolina dispute as evidence of "the rising level of anti-Muslim rhetoric in America." Yet you're nowhere near the level of anti-Christian/Jew rhetoric in your country, bucko.

Islam is mischaracterized as a religion of violence in contrast to peaceful Christianity by opponents who cite verses in the Quran that demand slaying the unfaithful, Sells said. Most Muslims interpret those verses in the context of early war between Muhammad's followers and their opponents. Tell that to the current victims in Israel, Lebanon, India, Philippines, Northern Africa, Europe, and oh yes, New York City.

I wonder whether UNC or any other state-supported University required reading a book on Approaching Shinto during the year after the bombing attack on Pearl Harbor?
It would seem unlikely that any University would have done that in the 1941-1942 era.

Anti rhetoric...in Islamic countries? Nahhhh...surely you jest.
(end sarcasm)
It is amazing that they expect, demand diversity in the USA, but behead any diversity elements in their own nations. Can we say H Y P O C R I S Y. They use our own laws, culture, and ideals against us for their gains...and we are currently losing that battle thanks to diversity and political correctness--which they are using, against us, for their own gains.

I would love to know who the ten were that voted not to withhold funds.

Thanks for the ping, CD.
Those avid supporters of the putrid vapor declaring Islam a "peaceful religion" would do well by weighing the atrocities committed in the name of Islam in comparison to those committed by ALL OTHER PEACEFUL RELIGIONS COMBINED. This includes the barbaric treatment of men, women, and children of their own cultures....

How about one titled "Nearing Nazism"? I don't think, on this side of the Great Pond, that would have sold many copies nor been a required reading assignment in 1942 either....

"The level of anti-Muslim rhetoric from commentators, religious leaders, and now elected officials, is getting out of hand and is poisoning the minds of many ordinary Americans," the group said in a prepared statement. "Only a strong statement from President Bush will put these people on notice that anti-Muslim bigotry will not be accepted in our society."
F*** OFF TOWELHEAD!!!
