However, his wife, Sárra Class, said Taylor [the police officer] “should have been shot.”

She sounds like an intelligent woman. /sarcasm

The officer was like any other person working for a living.Groups like these are like Osama and his thugs,I agree with them about governments abuse of power but they must attack this along different lines.Officer Taylor to them are like collateral damage to our government and Osamas way of thinking.People taking on the cause over government corruption and abuse are taking on the wrong people. You need to direct your attention to the fat cats and those that actually abuse the government by using those under them to do their dirty work.It is no doubt in my mind the government in this country has run amuck but you need to start where the source begins and that is not the foot soldier so to speak.

Her husband Dwight is a little smarter than she is, 'cos he knows enough to want to avoid sounding like a complete and utter nutburger:

Dwight Class disagreed and told his wife to stop making the comment.

Not to be insulting to the mindset as a whole, but what is it with these types of angry people and unkempt facial hair? It seems every anti-government type (Unabomber, those tax-evader separatists in Texas, the guy above) looks like a Dollar Store version of ZZ Top. Can't they discern they don't need the Constitution to guarantee them the right to a razor and some shaving cream?

What really sticks with me is the "paper trail" thing. Makes one wonder if they(including Matthews) weren't defying highway laws just to get pulled over to make cases. I hope Matthews felt his priniciples were worth his life. He had no right to take Taylor's life while standing on those principles however.

Don't be hoodwinked into defending this guy's ideology, nor be divided from those with whom you agree over such defenses.

These series of threads aren't about Matthews, Taylor, speeding tickets, or even Matthews' personal vision of the Constitution.

These threads are about using one man's death and another man's slaughter to initiate ad hominem attacks against ALL THOSE who believe the US Constitution is one creating a limited government of enumerated powers.

one_particular_harbor is THE most noteable personage here among others with nothing more in their desire to promulgate these threads than to divide us one from another, over the same argument that led to the War Between the States, the same argument between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists.

These people have danced in the blood of the fallen, neither Man has been placed in his grave yet. For all we know Matthews could have held the view that he has the right to murder because it's prosecution isn't an enumerated power in the Constitution...OR...For all we know the officer that stopped him could have told Matthews that it was open season on anti-government freaks and today was Matthews' lucky day.

Don't Do It.

Recognize these series of threads for what they primarily are: Ad Hominem attacks on ALL who believe in a limited government of enumerated powers.

Don't allow yourself to be manipulated into making seditious statements nor allow yourself to be divided from your friends seeking a less powerful government.

This has been the single best thread ever run in terms of separating the dingbat fringe far-right froot loops from sensible conservatives. I am afraid it has proven that there are far more of the former posting at FR than I ever suspected.

Bizarre.

These people are confused. It appears the real motivating factor in their lives is not the Constitution, but a rebellion against authority. If there are 20 or so people at these meetings, I can well imagine how a false idea about the Constitution could be suggested by one person, and then "group think" takes over.

Traffic laws are enforced for safety reasons (and to gain revenues - haha), but there is no good reason for not obeying them.

“He should have stopped,” he said of Matthews. “It was only a speeding ticket — it happens thousands of times a day. “You go by the law, the law of the land.”

Why can't our so called leaders and politicians understand this. We have millions upon millions of illegal aliens invading our nation, yet they stand silent.....

Free Republic is a place for people to discuss our common goals regarding the restoration of our constitutionally limited republican form of government. If people have other agendas for FR, I really wish they would take them elsewhere.
Thanks, Jim
