I live in NY and George Pataki has done a terrible job. He is an embarrasment and a Republican in name only. He is pro-homosexual marriage, pro-abortion, and anti-gun. He has given hundreds of thousands of tax dollars to socialists like Lenora Fulani and Al Sharpton. He pushed through the legislature some of the strictest gun control laws in the country including:

a ban on assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices;
mandatory trigger locks at point of sale of all firearms, rifles and shotguns;
a ballistic identification databank from sales of firearms; rifles or shotguns at gun shows (backdoor gun registration);
raising the minimum age for a pistol license to 21 years of age;

Mario Cuomo tried to get these things through the Republican legislature but couldn't. New York conservatives would be better off with a Democrat in the governor's mansion: It would send a message to the state GOP that they can't keep selling us out and the legislature would oppose the same agenda that they would support coming from Pataki.

You guys are only concentrating on one office. take the Liberal Republican out of the Governor's office, the one that works with the Democrats. If Pataki loses we get our Republican Senate back which will allow us to stop the Liberal agenda that has been moving through New York State. A quick picture of how the three bodies in NY are aligned. The NYS Senate is Republican by nearly a two to one margin, the Assembly is Democrat by nearly a two to one margin. The Governor is a wolf in sheep’s clothing! He pushes a Liberal and anti-gun agenda and campaigns with the Democrats. He is the highest ranking member of the Republican Party which gives him the ultimate control over the Republican Senate. How else do you think he has been able to force through the anti-gun bills he has. Cuomo was not able to get through less restrictive bills in his entire tenure.

Which is better: ??

A Democrat Governor + a Republican Senate + a Democrat Assembly = GRIDLOCK.

Or

A Republican Senate + a Democrat Assembly + a Liberal Republican Governor (Pataki) with control over the Republican Senate = MORE GUN CONTROL LAWS.

A good example is what is happening with Bush and the Democrat Senate.
