This is depressing....this was my favorite summer television show and now, come to find out, it is the computer nerds who are going to determine the next American Idol.

I can't believe the producers of this show couldn't have figured out that the system could be gamed and devised ways to prevent that. An average 10 year old could have probably told them that.
Here's the gist of the article:
Some fans of the recently booted American Idol beauty Ryan Starr think power dialing is unfair because not everyone has access to the technology.
You can bet if the minorities who are left in the group get booted off, it will be deemed a racist plot. Since the show could have been scammed from the beginning, this puts in great doubt the real winner. They might as well start from scratch.

These people are morons. You can't block ANI to an 800 number. Allow 1 vote/ANI/day. Done. It's that easy.

I would think this show would have broader appeal -- and certainly a larger target audience -- if they called it "American Idiot." They could search far and wide for the biggest morons inhabiting the countryside, then bring them all together and have a "fool-off," where one tries to outdo the other in idiocy. The last one standing could be the Democratic nominee for president!
