Martha Stewart dumped 1,000 pages of documents about the ImClone stock mess on congressional investigators yesterday barely beating their deadline.
But the lawmakers still weren't happy.
They said some of the documents they got from Stewart had portions blacked out.
'We did notice that a number of documents were redacted,' House Energy and Commerce Committee spokesman Ken Johnson told the Daily News.
'The attorneys told us that the documents requested contained financial information not related to ImClone. We have told them to bring in original copies for our investigaors to review.
'We're not in a trust me mood right now. Any time you recieve documents with portions blacked out, it raises questions in your mind.' Johnson said.
The committee members also appeared stunned by the large amount of material Stewart handed over.
Right out of the Hillary/DNC playbook
LOL! Nearly every time documents are requested from the government via Freedom Of Information Act requests, the responses contain numerous redactions. For example, documents relating to the TWA 800 shootdown, etc. Although I agree Martha is guilty, it's nice to see she's giving the government a taste of their own medicine.
What's-his-name, the Pubbie committee chair, was saying yesterday that it might take a couple of weeks to go through all this stuff before they decided whether or not a subpoena was warrented. If this stuff showed up with redactions, then I say why wait the two weeks. The committee will end up looking like wussies. They should subpoena her today and drag her in front of the cameras to take the 5th. Enough of this B.S.
That is why Sam Waskal has a chance to roll over on HER, even though he is the bigger fish in the pond, as realtes to the crimes at hand.
Her lawyer is screwing her, one seems to sense that he is politically tone deaf. Martha is no Powerbroker, those kinds of plays are generally the province of the Political Players....
They are already squeezing her from the botom, they have Faneuil...If they get Waskal (whose daughter is being used to leverage him, pretty simple choice), she wont be serving up documents, she will be serving up Pudding in the Federal pen.
No matter how bad or tawdry her lawyer makes it out to be, the prosecution goes last, and the last thing the jury will hear is....
What you have is a Woman that built up a B illion dollar net worth, yes that's billion with a B and in order to turn a profit on a 40,000 dollar investment, knowingly traded on inside information, and in doing so, caused her stock to crash, costing her own shareholders umpteen billions in shareholder value, all in the name of greed.
The Jury will be back before their coffee gets cold.
Yep...that RAT wench is proving to be quite an unpleasant individual...MUD
Yep
Who the heck does she think she is? Only the government redacts in these circumstances. How arrogant.
Redacted documents are standard practice. The whole point is to not have to produce irrelevant material. Producing originals kind of defeats that whole purpose. Congress can go to court if it wants to do a fishing expedition.
Not defending Martha, mind you, but this issue is silly.
Your logic escapes me. You don't like the redacted papers, so you insist that she show up and "redact" her testimony, too?
Draggin her in front of the committee IS BS! It's a perp-walk for the cameras, and does nothing for justice.
Get the AG after lawbreakers....not lawbreaking lawMAKERS. Congress has Z E R O credibility on any kind of finicial scandal....
What kind of financial information is Miss Martha trying to hide? Something she doesn't want the IRS to know? Something about Martha Stewart Omnimedia's finances that she doesn't want the SEC to know? Maybe it is time for an SEC investigation of MSO's books.
Had her little deal not been discovered, her stock would still be up there and those who love and loathe her wouldn't care less.
But the truth of the matter is, Martha is boring. Her shows are boring. Her line of goods are boring.
She just had a good marketing firm and appealed to the "masses" of bored women who would do just fine without her.
Martha is just another alternative to soap operas.
