Here's how the Judas Deal worked. Harry Reid, as head of the Democratic Party and its chief strategist saw that he had no one lined up to run for the governorship in another four years (Joe Neal doesn't have a bat's chance in hell of beating Guinn this year). Also, Kenny Guinn is positioning himself to run for the senate in two years, against none other than Harry Reid. So poor old Harry has to find a viable blocking piece to fill the lieutenant governor's seat.
Desperate Harry Reid thus had to find an up-and-coming Democrat to beat Republican Loraine Hunt for the Lieutenant Governor's position. Why was this such a hot coal for Reid? Because Kenny Guinn won't run for the Senate mid-term against Harry if he knows a Democrat Lt. Gov. would replace him! ! ! So, Harry Reid hand picks Erin Kenny to run for the Lieutenant Governor's position against Loraine Hunt, because Kenny has the juice (she's a made-man in the old Vegas tradition). But now the Democrat power brokers have a problem, because Erin's Commission seat is already bought and paid for. Where oh where can they find another useful puppet?? Mark James, are you listening?
HERE'S WHERE YOU CONNECT THE DOTS. Of course, who is Erin Kenny's campaign manager but none other than Kent Oram, the notorious political consultant who authored the Nevada Initiative for the Nuclear Industry to bring Yucca Mountain here (backroom sellout number one). Insiders have long known how crooked Erin is, in the pocket of certain unions, garbage companies and developers (nice house Erin!), and Oram sure had his part in that. So, all of a sudden, no doubt because he is such a nice guy, Mark James miraculously moves into District F. He gets a nice house, some say the same deal Erin got. And the Lord smite me dumb and blind, but MARK JAMES' CAMPAIGN MANAGER IS NONE OTHER THAN KENT ORAM!!
So, Mark James sells his soul to multiple devils in exchange for: thirty shekels, a house and a Commissioner's seat (and probably a run at the Governorship in a few years!). All courtesy of the Democrats and backroom political puppeteers -- just the people Republican voters want running their party. Here's how slick the slickmeisters are, Erin Kenny even waits till the deadline to drop out of the Commissioners race and file for Lieutenant Governor, just so no viable Democrat can oppose the annointed James (Is that sleazy or what? Democrats protecting a Republican they have bought and paid for!). The manipulators think they've got it made in the shade and are ready to crown James as Puppet King, that's why you get weird anomalies like the Culinary Union being solicited to crossover to Republican so they can vote for James in the primary. Gee, the sick smell of Oram and Reid are all over everything (cripes Mark, begging for Culinary Union votes!? Do you have no shame!?). Can it get any worse???
Things sure can get worse - if Judas Mark James wins the primary and Erin Kenny wins the Lieutenant Governor's seat things get lots worse, because then the Nevada Republican Party will essentially be owned by Harry Reid. Why, it's gone so far that Harry even has his son, Rory Reid, running for another Commission seat (won't that be a corrupt little vermin nest). The one hopeful ray of light is that Tim Cory (a non-career honest politician) is also running against James and has a fighting chance of toppling the annointed one. Holy Cow, if Republican voters knew about the Judas Deal, why Harry Reid might just have to get out of town, and we might end up with an honest Commissioner for once who wasn't bought and paid for.
