Too bad you seem to have slept through this whole issue. We are the ones that will be deterred. The Russians are...and are announcing for the whole world to see....that they will STAY a nuclear super-power. We won't be a nuclear superpower very soon, thanks to GWB. The U.S., under GWB, has programmed over the next three years the dismantlement, more or less immediately, of ALL of our MX "Peace-keeper" missiles, and many of Trident D-5 SLBMs. These had taken HUGE political capital to deploy in the first instance by Ronald Reagan. And are absolutely vital to provide a credible nuclear 'fire-break' deterrence on the counter-force level against the first strike threat posed by these very Russian systems. Gee, ain't it grand to know we can 'Trust' and NOT verify either?????
