One comedian (I can't recall his name) assessed Morrisette's song "Ironic" this way...
Morrisette sings "It's like rain on your wedding day" and about how you wait your whole life to fly and the day you do, the plane crashes...This isn't irony...It's BAD LUCK. I think the only thing ironic is that she sings a song called Ironic and she doesn't know what irony is.
To wit:

In cynthia's case, I posit that, it is ignorant, dramatic and tragic irony. Should Chambliss win because of it, that would be sweet irony....priceless in fact.
