The history of searching for the "ark" on Ararat has been a sordid tale of incompetence and fraud.
People should stop giving money to the various charletans claiming to have found it or almost found it....everything on Ararat consists of easily explained (and fairly common) geological formations. But, with a ready market of millions of people who really WANT an ark to be found, millions of dollars will be wasted on breathless documentaries and books.
I remember as a kid going to see a theatrically released documentary on this topic. One of those (in)famous Shick/Sun flicks. (This was all before "In Search of..." came along.) The impression it left the viewer was: "As soon as the Cold War is over, we'll have an answer." I'm surprised this hasn't been resolved one way or another yet.
