UPI doing spin for Islamists?
This was not a Muslim conference, but one put together by the political wing of a terrorist organization.
The conference entitled "The Islamist movement after the events of September 11" was organized by lawyer Montasser Zayat, long known as the de facto spokesman of the Gamaa Islamiya, one of Egypt's largest militant organizations. Featured speakers included several prominent Islamist thinkers and analysts. Even teh actual title of the event showed its true nature. UPI presented a false image. The correct title for the piece should have been
"Islamist Conference:Fundamentalist Islam under assault"

Almost all islam is fundamentalist. There's very little in the way of 'enlightened' islam in the planet.
So, basically the story and title are correct.

Every non-citizen mulism should be deported from the US, and any muslim US citizen who will not renounce islamism should be interned.

After years of being hunted down the Gamaa Islamiya was only permitted to organize in Egypt just a few years ago after it promised to eschew terrorism and terrorist tactics. If the Egyptian Govt does not crack down hard now it would only be fitting for the State Department to issue a travel alert for Egypt and cut the legs from the Egyptian tourism industry.
