NCGOP Officers Support Judge Calabria in Primary Race
NC GOP ^ | Monday, Sept 9th | NC GOP

Posted on 09/09/2002 1:30:31 PM PDT by jern

Dear Republican Supporters,

Your energetic support of Republican candidates has been generous and consistent. Without your support, our Republican ticket would not be as strong or as solid as it is this historic election season. We have made great strides in electing Republican judges at all levels. However, a dangerous cavity is developing that could compromise everything for which you have worked so hard.

Nate Pendley, candidate for the N.C. Court of Appeals, is a threat to the integrity of the entire Republican judicial ticket. North Carolinians are people of sound values. They know the Republican Party to be the party of common sense that offers candidates of sound judgment.

However, if Nate Pendley is part of the Republican ticket this November, the reputation we have worked so hard to attain will be at risk. Nate Pendley's scandalous behavior will create a media firestorm that could impugn the character of other candidates in the process. The following links to articles that ran in major daily newspapers prove this to be true (we have archived them on our website):
http://www.ncgop.org/news/Charlotte-Pendly_Name_Game-070502.html
http://www.ncgop.org/news/Winston-Salem-Pendley_Grilled-082902.html

In an almost unprecedented action, the officers of the North Carolina Republican Party urge your support of Judge Ann Marie Calabria in the Republican Primary on September 10th. Traditionally, we remain neutral in primaries. But we emphatically agree that the entire Republican judicial ticket is jeopardized by the possible nomination of one man.

The choice is unmistakably clear. A vote for two-term District Court Judge Ann Marie Calabria for the N.C. Court of Appeals is a vote for a Republican victory in November.

Sincerely,

Bill Cobey Linda Daves Ferrell Blount Linda Shaw Chairman Vice-Chairman National National Committeeman Committeewoman

Bump!

Thanks for the heads-up! Gov. Holhouser also has endorsed Calabria.

This man is an embarrassment to every Tar Heel!

This guy sounds like a JERK. I'm just trying to figure out right now who is on the ballot and who I will be voting for. Thanks for educating us on this loser.

You should sign up for the NCGOP's breaking email list. It is a great service. You can make a lot of complaints about the NC GOP, but they have a awesome web site. They do a great job.

I found this sentence particularly interesting:

Traditionally, we remain neutral in primaries.

I have checked out their site before, but only briefly. I will sign up for their list this evening.

When will the NCGOP start trying to get rid of Jack Daly? He and Pendly are almost identical twins when it comes to this stuff. In fact, if you replace Pendly's name with Jack Daly you would never know a change was made.

Though for some reason, Jack Daly seems to be a favorite of the NCGOP.

They were traditionally neutral until a certain lady was choosen to run for Jesse's seat.

I can not think of another time when they have endorsed a primary candidate.

My point exactly, but I still found it interesting that they said that.

They have not endorsed anyone before, at least in recent memory.

Jack Daly is ancient history. I don't think he's active in the State GOP at this time.

Jack Daly should have been history a long time ago.

Chance are he will just legally change his name, again, and come back new and improved.

I can't remember his birth name, but he changed it so his name would appear higher on the ballot. His original name started with a W and appeared near the bottom. He didnt like that.

There is a legal limit on the number of times you can change your name in NC.

Maybe it's the Jack Daly Law.

Well, I guess I should go ahead & change my name in case I ever decide to run for office!

(my last name starts with "V").

Just run as Constitution Day...very catchy and it stands out...that will help with name recognition, and that's the big hurdle these days

It would be near the top of the ballot, too!
