The fact that Ritter "was there" doesn't necessarily mean he is a credible witness. It only means he was in a position to collect information and evidence first-hand.
Credibility requires more than first-hand presence. It requires a clear and stable mind, fully-functioning senses, an unbiased attitude, and a personal commitment to report accurately and consistently the evidence as one witnessed it.
What can't be disputed is that Ritter is unstable. He constantly reinvents himself and refashions the facts to suit his purpose at any given moment. Given the flip-flops and contradictions in his statements the best thing to do is to ignore him completely, just as one would do any unreliable witness, and test for truth with the remaining good witnesses and evidence.
If the remaining credible witnesses and evidence tend to prove Iraq is on the brink of deploying WMD, then we should strike hard, fast, and as often as necessary to deny Iraq that capability. If the evidence tend to prove the opposite, then we ought not do this. But in evaluating either option, Ritter should be wholly disregarded as a non-factor.
I heard an interview with Ritter yesterday on local radio. When given a chance, he stated that he thinks Hussein is evil, despicable, and that Hussein is very capable of doing this. His point is, that there is no proof and that the administration is fudging. I agree. If the CIA had a photo of an Iraqi scientist working with a beaker that said sarin on it, we would have seen it. We suspect, but we don't have hard proof.
I think Ritter is being a jerk, and Hussein's past behaviour with the Kurds, Iran, and Kuwait is more than enough reason for us to cleanse him from the world, but I still wonder why the Bush administration for example was denying for a year that Mohammed Atta met with Iraqi's, saying that the evidence was flimsy, but now when they want to invade, say that they believe the story. It is sort of Gulf of Tonka in it's presentation.
There may be a problem with the world leaders, and american opinion that what we do know isn't enough to get support for an invasion, but we should try that first, rather than make charges that we can't stick.
However MANY self-described patriotic conservatives of today are not patriots, not gentlemen, not committed to the cause of Liberty -- rather they desire a forced order above all, a tryrant's order to which Liberty is a petty sacrifice -- making them the same as the Tories in those years up to and during the Revolution.
Many such a "conservative" TORY has gathered and been empowered here recently on FR, and they have forgotten or are in fear of the open ears and open heart of a true Patriot. Rather, like tory dogs in a pack, they hound any not barking their tune. Dogs, I say, because men would not act so.
What I mean is when RITTER gone before congress and we WARCHED ~ HOW HE WAS TREATED AND SCORN by the senate! oh we murmur and mumbo here on FR Yet, was there anyone outside the capital to support him?, Just like all the other fallen verbal soldiers, we stay put!
We are so dolce as a nation, we want all the congressmen and senators to fight for us as we murmur here and in our corners of protection!
Some how and maybe there is no right way to start to "VOICE OUR CONTEMPT FOR THE VIPERS WHO UNDERMIND OUR GOOD POEPLE!" We either have to stand up and be counted or we will be vanished by our lack of courage!
I sincerly mean this, I have no funds and have trouble walking. Yet I would if younger pray some how to to keep the moral up of those, so they don't feel all alone! IT TAKES A LOT TO MOVE THAT DARK SHADOW THAT HANGS OVER ONE WHO IS FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT! Think at times in your own personal battle what it takes to maintain faith!
Should we continue to bash him? or try to let him know his courage was appreciated?
Some how we have to stop thinking what it would cost in our pleasrue if we rid these traders in office.
There must someone among us, here on freeper or who knows those who are capable to show us how to free us from these vipers!
Myself I believe if we live according to the conscience the Lord gave us, we would not be having these challenges with these wicked invaders!
WILL THERE BE OTHERS WHO WILL WANT TO STICK THEIR NECKS OUT FOR THE GOOD OF ALL?
For as of now we sure are no safty net!
