Conservatives blast talk show host Bill O'Reilly

NEW YORK (AP) -- There's nothing unusual about pugnacious talk show host Bill O'Reilly being in a fight. The real surprise this time is who he's fighting.

In the past two weeks, O'Reilly has come under attack from the right, from the same ideologues who helped make the Fox News Channel personality one of the most popular figures on cable television.

I don't have to agree with the guy on everything. I still think he's on our (the right-thinking) side. He shows more common sense than most T.V. comentators, and that's good enough for me.

I haven't watched O'Reilly in ages. I got pretty disillusioned with him when I started noticing that he doesn't keep himself informed on issues. I rants on and on about some things that have already been proven wrong long before he airs his shows.

That's fine with him, he'll end up with an audience of dummies and still get his paycheck, but he'll have to keep lowering his show until he's just another Larry King. It all pays the same, he won't care.

He didn't sell out, he's still the same god damn Country Club RINO that he's always been. He's always opposed the death penalty, opposed the 2nd amendment, been pro-abortion, etc. The only difference is and has been, that he hates elitists, and he seems to have a special partisian hatred for Liberals. Its more of a personal thing, he does have some conservative views, but then again, Miller from Georgia does too. Every now and then, you'll find somone who should be and is liberal in their beliefs but despises and hates the RATS and is republican, can't reallly explain it, but it happens sometimes.

O'Reilly does not have the work ethic required to stay on top. Look at Rush... years and years and years of doing his show and he still preps as if it was day one.

O'reilly wants to be invited to parties given by media elites. He always whines about not being invited to those parties.

In order to gain that acceptance, he is copying Clinton's playbook, by doing a "sista-soulja" against religious conservatives. If he is seen as the man who can stand up to the "Christian Right", then he will be a hero in cocktail circles.

I don't know if this is the same guest that I saw the other night. I don't usually watch O'Reilly, but I had it on when I fell asleep and then woke up Saturday night listening to O'Reilly talking to a guest.

They were arguing about the Bible. Or rather O'Reilly was pontificating about the Bible, asking the guest a question and then interupting him before he had it halfway answered.

O'Reilly actually said to the guest, "So I guess you take the Old Testament as gospel." Duh. He didn't give the man a chance to point out to O'Reilly that no, the Old Testament is not gospel. The gospel is contained in the New Testament, so O'Reilly remained oblivious to his blooper.

O'Reilly kept accusing the guest of believing that practicing gays will go to hell. He didn't allow the guest to say what I believe he was trying to say, which is that Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins and that we're all sinners, whether we're gay or not. O'Reilly just asked the questions and then answered them for the guest and then ended the segment.

The "No-Spin Zone" needs to be renamed to the "O-Reilly's preconceived notion" zone. And nobody had better challenge those preconceived notions either.

No, they're offended that you chose to conclude the conversation by using an anti-Christian epithet. A favored tactic of FNC's most fervent critics on the Left and a clear indication that you were losing the argument.

Clearly CNN is enjoying this controversy. Nice going O'Rielly.

I think O'reilly provides a stepping stone for liberals to eventually embrace conservativism. Let's face it, he's not James Carvillle. A few of my very liberal acquaintances are hooked on him and have begun to travel the path to mental health. They are people the people that would never listen to Rush, Hannity, etc. They gotta start somewhere.
