Well, if you have any doubts about whether or not it's going to be political, ask yourself why two victim family members are testifying first?
What could THEY possibly add to this "discussion?"

My beef is this:
Within a week of ANY classified briefing, the substance is going to end up in the New York Times, Washington Post, or Washington Times.
Now, if this is more like the John Ashcroft's testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary committee in December, I'll reconsider, but at this point Congress needs to be seen and not heard.

Karl Cameron said that Shelby is joining the Dems. to claim they haven't seen enough evidence. We know by VP Cheney's comments on Rush last week that Shelby and these whining Dems. had already seen much more than we were treated to during the President's UN speech...
Take back the Senate and take Shelby out to the woodshed.
; Jennifer Harper writes that the rumor (Prowler scoop) that Alabama Republican Sen. Richard Shelby is switching back to the Democrats, if they maintain Senate control after this year's elections, is likely "sassy mischief" by Dems. "Some think the Democrats are deliberately floating rumors to irk Republicans pining for a GOP return come November. They can almost taste it, what with the tough re-election battles of Democrats Paul Wellstone of Minnesota, Tim Johnson of South Dakota and Jean Carnahan of Missouri."
Shelby's people deny it (as did Jeffords' a year ago). Personally I don't see how the Senator could survive the ridicule if he switched again....
