Rugby player discovers rival's tooth in his arm one month after match

A rugby league player is out for the rest of the season after discovering he has the tooth of a rival player stuck in his arm

Jamie Ainscough, who plays for Wigan Warriors, had no idea he had one of Martin Gleeson's teeth in his arm after he tackled the Saints player in a match in July.

He only found out a month later when his arm became swollen. Ainscough now requires an operation because the bone has been infected by the tooth.

Poor man. He's been bitten to the bone. This is what happens when you play rugger with Count Dracula.

But...but...what about the rival?
Wasn't he *missing* something?

...Rugby, huh.

Wasn't there a Rugby player not to long ago that got in trouble for sticking his finger up competitors rear. I have no reason to question his motives. Having read this, I can only wonder at the possibilities.

Maybe he thought he left it on the field someplace.

Why? It's only a tooth.

Most rugby players I ever knew had no natural teeth. Those that did wouldn't miss one until they sobered up. Since they never sobered up, it would never have been an issue.

Rugby is the greatest game and the greatest sport in the world (at least the greatest insofar as any game or sport that you can play with your clothes on). I played rugby in school 25 years ago and never knew anyone who was seriously injured either at the game or as a result of the copious quantities of beer consumed after the matches. Several of my friends played intermural basketball and got hurt a lot worse than anyone I saw who played on the school's rugby team. I am now nearly 50 years old and would gladly play rugby now if there were any teams (who would let old coots play) within 50 miles of me. I believe that I still have all of my teeth, but there may be something to your assertion that maybe I have never sobered up.

Well, a little poetic license is allowed.

Seriously, though, if you played a lot of rugby and still have all your teeth, congratulations. You are in a small club indeed. Having said that, I agree it is a great sport, albeit one played by some seriously deranged people.

Its a shame there are no teams nearby. I've been playing for over ten years and still play at the local club level. Here in Northern California, we have a club league of 6-8 teams and rotate home field for 12 to 16 games a season.

There's a tournament (Harlotfest) coming up in Modesto on Oct. 19th. A lot of players show up and teams are drawn up randomly from the lists of men. All ages are invloved, and I'll be nowhere near the oldest at 50 years. (I've lost one tooth, but that was in Olympic Freestyle Wrestling almost 30 years ago.)

If it had been a moose tooth he'd have noticed it sooner.

Yep, most likely within 2 weeks...
