Of course, CNN did NOT cover this event. CNN has a news bureau in Havana but ALL they report are Lucia Newman's Happy Face stories about Cuba. It would be interesting to see Payá win the Nobel Peace Prize just to see CNN squirm. They would have to face the dilemma of not reporting it or facing the wrath of Fidel. My guess is that CNN would choose the former. Most likely on the day Payá wins the Nobel prize, Lucia Newman would do some Happy Face story about street singers in Havana or some local industry making souvenir ashtrays for tourists.

Havel replied with a coy message of solidarity, based on his own dissident experience: ''Send my greetings to state security,'' he said.

Nice touch there.
