How would America have reacted to Sept. 11 had Al Gore been president?

Or, more to the point, how would Al Gore have reacted to Sept. 11?

Judging by his speech the other day to the Commonwealth Club of California, the answer is: Weakly.

Tentatively.

Maybe not at all.

IMHO: If Gore had been #43, after 9/11 he would have launched an massive attack on Afghanistan almost immediately. Thus doing what Usama expected. There would have been 10's of thousands of American dead and up to a million dead Afghans.

Usama would have gone to hiding in a Pakistan hostile to the US.

We can thank out lucky stars that some 3,000 FL voters joined (though unknowingly) the Buchannan Brigades.

Or, more to the point, how would Al Gore have reacted to Sept. 11?

After he changed his underwear, he would have proceeded to meet with all world's leaders. You know, Katie Couric, Oprah, Martin Sheen, etc. He would have made a vow to the American People to find the root problem of our failure to get along with the rest of the world. He would have traced the terrorists to Saudi Arabia, and demanded satisfaction. He would now be riding down Pennsylvania Ave. on a horse named War Emblem. He would be a cowboy. That's all he ever really wanted to be. A president or a cowboy.
