That tune? I wish I could remember the name of the old, laid back, rock n roll song it comes from...the real line is, "and the girls say...", then the chorus.

I have an appointment to get to, I'll try to remember the name of the song and get back to ya.

How does someone demand cheap goods and services?

By refusing to pay above a certain dollar amount.

Someone else will pay what the landscaper needs to charge or he goes out of business.

OK, and what happens to his employees at that point?

Oh, maybe you think that SOME Americans don't "deserve" a "living wage." What's your criteria for making THAT evaluation?

But what if you can't afford the lawn mower because the people who make it, and the people who sell it are paying outrageously inflated wages?

Here's another word for you: Inflation. Too many dollars chasing too few of a commodity.

I would phase out, or (if possible) outright ELIMINATE social programs. You, 4Freedom, have got it all wrong.

Come off it.

There ought to be measures short of deportation that should suffice in the case of this honor student. You yourself admit he is not a threat to national security.

So why not revamp and reform the laws so that something can be worked out that doesn't get him deported? Sort out threats from non-threats, and act accordingly.

We screwed up in the policy - good people who want to make America their home and adopt it as their country are unable to, and that is flat-out wrong and it must change. Furthermore, those caught up and screwed over by the badly-written laws, including illegal immigrants like this honor student, are going to need to be sorted out, and a proper evaluation made as to whether they are a potential threat or likely to end up just on welfare. If either of those are the case, then send them out. But if neither are thje case, they ought to be allowed to remain here.

If the so-called "jackass" didn't want to take the job with your company, because he thought the money wasn't good enough to put up with a personal attacking, name-calling, cheap-shot artist like yourself.

MORE POWER TO HIM!!!

LOL!

How much money does your company have to pay to get good people to put up with your hostile crap?

There's the solution to their personnel problems. They should fire you!

LOL X 2!!!

Buy a used one. Couldn't afford to get a new computer a few years back so I got a refurbished one and it works great. There's always alternatives out there if anyone takes the time to investigate them.

So why deny an employer the same right to explore alternatives to paying wages he feels are too expensive (like the H1B program)?

Good people don't get "hostile crap" from me.

Idiots, on the other hand, get all kinds of "hostile crap" for me.

I've never had to actually fire anyone, but the nonperformers seem to want to work somewhere else after three months.

We screwed up in the policy - good people who want to make America their home and adopt it as their country are unable to...

You're right, we did screw up by not closing the border and keeping out those who have no right to be here in the first place while allowing in only legal immigrants through a quicker and more orderly process.

and that is flat-out wrong and it must change...

Wow you're batting a thousand, right again. The government has a duty and a responsibility to enforce ALL the laws, not just the ones they decide to enforce at any given time. Unless they start doing that, there are going to be serious troubles down the road.

Btw, you didn't answer my post that you are taking the same position as Ted Kennedy and the democratic party when it comes to illegal aliens. And when rank and file conservatives don't agree you get all upset. In a democracy most of the time the majority rules. Your position is of a tiny minority. But then again that never stops the CATO Institute either.

There has been no new proposals

You don't need new proposals, when you have close to a dozen bills already pending on the floor of the House and Senate.

It is a fact that the vast majority of INS law enforcement is sick of Bush trying to past Amnesty, and letting the INS be run by open border idiots.

The Dems don’t have to try and divide, Bush already did that.

Is anyone telling the border patrol to step aside?

Nope, they are being told not to move. If you see an illegal crossing 50 yards from you, "Don't Move".

Since when was right and wrong determined by a majority vote?

And even if I disagree with "rank and file" Republicans on this issue - I agree with them on just about everything else, therefore, I am a registered Republican. Or does this disagreement constitute sufficient cause to throw me out of the party? If I were a nominee for a Senate seat this year running against a Democrat, would you decide to go third-party over a disagreement on this issue?

Stop and think about this for a minute. It's not that the "job's too tough", they are demoralized because THEY ARE GETTING NO SUPPORT FROM WASHINGTON!

Another one of my brothers was a cop for ten years. When he joined the PD, he wanted to "make a difference", within 5 years he had become completely demoralized because the Brass didn't want anyone to "make waves"....they wouldn't support, or back anyone.

He was put in charge of a neighborhood watch program. He had a public meeting with anyone and everyone in the 'hood invited, with the hopes of soliciting support. He spent countless hours on his own time compiling crime statistics for the 6 blocks he was assigned. He went to the meeting, and honestly told it like it was.....laid all the facts on the table....rapes, armed robberies, murder etc. The people were obviously upset at the dire situation they had to live through day to day. The next day, he got called to the carpet. Chief asked him "what the hell are you trying to do here? Chr!st sakes, (I quote) you'r not supposed to do ANYTHING....JUST SHMOOZE THEM!!!!!!!"

Shortly after that, he was give sh!t detail, in the biggest piece of crap car, in the toughest projects. The gangstas used to shoot out the lights on top of the partol car just for fun. He figured if he has to be assigned to the projects, he wanted to be on a drug raid team, where at least he'd be with 4 or 5 guys right there to cover his a$$.
He was ALWAYS first man through the door and had enormous respect from his fellow patrol officers.

On his own dime, he went to schools across the country, hostage negotiation, bomb disposal, hazmat and more. He had more specialized training than any three guys put together on the force. The Brass knew this, on several instances where they could have used his expertise in handling these situations, they walked by him and snickered. After a few years, he used to refer to his police uniform as a costume.

He'd say..."well I have to go to work and be a phoney for 8 hours....where's my clown hat?"

This is just a short story about getting no support from the higher ups.

The out of control situation of our borders lies squarely at the feet of Presedente' Jorge Bush.

If he can bypass the congress and senate and pull "Executive order" to keep the Clintoon files a secret, why not pull Executive order and bypass Congress and Senate and help the poor US souls, (Customs, INS as well as private citizens) deal with this BS border policy.

Your question reminds me of an old Pink Floyd tune called "Apples and Oranges".

There's a big difference between finding something cheaper through a newspaper ad and selling out your people, which is what Congress is doing with the H1-B program. It's one thing for businesses to find the best possible labor within the country, but to force Americans to have to compete with everyone around the world is grossly unfair and is nothing short of corporate welfare.

But I'm sure you knew that.

No, same principle applies. You just want to limit the competition, and create artificially high prices for labor in the labor market.

When too many dollars are chasing too few of a commodity, you get inflation real fast. There's no difference - except for the circumstances.

The farmer can hire as many day laborers as he wants, he just has to apply for there visas, but it is easier for the farmer to ignore the law and hire illegals, so that is what he does.

Everyone bitches and moans about the need for work visa's, but no one what’s to apply for the work visa's that already exist.

There is not need for any farmer in the US to hire illegals. The farmers are just to lazy to go file the proper paper work to get legal visa's for their workers.

What about launching a write in Tancredo effort for 2004?

Great idea, I was already planning to write in Tancredo in 2004, but had not thought of launching a campaign to get others on board.

For those of us who want something done about illegal immigration, does that make us an anti-immigration type? Is that what the position of the RNC is? Hope not, otherwise they're going to lose votes if it is.

They already lost it then. The official stand of the RNC is to ignore the illegals or get them benefits. Bush and the RNC have no desire to control the border or deport illegals.
