***The Signs Are There: War With Iraq Is Coming SOON***
Stardate: 0209.27

Posted on 09/27/2002 10:42:57 AM PDT by The Wizard

I realized today why Dasshole and the rest are screaming:

About a week to ten days from now the War is going to start, (probably the weekend after the congress/the UN passes it's resolution.....**) and anyone who understands how we work can see it, the signs all turned up on TV Monday.

What you may ask gives me this insight?

Well I'll tell you, as it just hit me.....and I had real reservations about posting, (and If the folks here think this should go, pull away)....

Remember the image of the skies over Bagdad during Desert Storm.....well, on Monday both Fox news and CNN launched a midday show about the "War in Iraq", and PMSNBC sent their reporter to an aircraft carrier in the gulf who has started reporting daily about "drills"

As a TV producer it tells me they are positioning themselves to be on air during the night, (Bagdad Time) and already have everything in place to cover what they expect to be a very short war.

In my field you start a week or two ahead to get your viewers in tow, but you don't start a month or two because you'll lose them......

So, at the risk of seeming like a complete fool, the motions of the TV news gatherers tells me we'll be in and over before Halloween.

And the democrats will have to run against a victorious republican President who has just beaten Iraq, liberated Afghanistan and planted the seeds of democracy in Iran at the same time........

No wonder they're pissed:

They wanted GWB to go to the UN, he did.

They wanted him to come to congress, he did.

And now, before the election, he's going to go into Iraq........(and the War will bost the economy as well)

I've said it before and I will say it again:

Don't mess with this Texan, he's too many moves ahead

Where the hell was your head, during the 8 years of the Clinton administration. That is precisely what the "democrats" and leftist supporters were doing - and they damned near ruined the country...

That's exactly why I said "the next time . . ." -- some folks here seem to have forgotten the last time already!

Also, I just heard on Rush's show that the Missouri senate election is different this year in that the senator elected there in Nov. will be seated immediately because the current senator took the place of her deceased husband.

It's not quite that simple. The Governor of Missouri (a Democrat)is the one who would have the authority to seat Talent early. He doesn't have to do that, however.

Furthermore, if Frank Murkowski wins the Alaska gubernatorial race, there will be at least a 5-day period after the election during which Alaska will be short one Senator. Since that current Senate seat (Murkowski) is a Republican, the GOP would be one Senator short of a majority (assuming they gained only one seat in the elections). Depending on the timing, that might be enough to derail any hope of an early majority.

They must teach a funny brand of chess in Cleveland . . .

I didn't learn the game in Cleveland. Presumptions and assumptions. Still not surprised.

Ran across these thoughts for GOP rebuttals to Kennedy and Dachle:

Well, aren't we just a ray of f_____ing sunshine?

Not the brightest crayon in the box, are we?

An erection does not count as personal growth, Senator.

Did the aliens forget to remove your anal probe?

And your cry-baby, whiney assed opinion would be?

We try to be cynical, but it's hard to keep up.

Do they ever shut up on your planet?

You look and sound like shit. Is that the style now?

How many times do we have to flush before you go away?

Sorry about that -- I stand corrected.

I did the best I could based on the information that was available to me.

Did you ever play for the "Ebony Knights?"
(that's a serious question -- they're usually one of the top chess teams in the U.S.)

I don't understand about the phones?

You said that satellite phones could be used if we wipe out their communications with EMP.

ElectroMagnatic Pulse weapons destroy everything electronic in their range. Second, the CIA own the satellite phone system. (make a call and if they are looking for you and have a voiceprint, you are located within seconds). They could also deny service to anyone they want.

I posted this on another thread, but it really seems to fit in well with your list above:

Ted Kennedy says, "I am not convinced Iraq has made any progress towards nuclear weapons"

And I am not convinced that all that Viagra Teddy is taking has done anything other than enlarge the size of his gut.

This is something to remember the next time it is an administration of left-wing @ssholes that is doing the manipulating.

Take off your tinfoil.

Every administration uses the media to the extent that it can. Not only that, if the day comes when the media doesn't get access, you'll get slanted coverage like you wouldn't believe.

Call me a nut, but in a case like this I don't even look upon "the media" and "the government" as two distinct entities. So granting one of them "access" to the workings of the other is sort of like having the FBI provide illuminating commentary on the incompetence of the CIA in the weeks and months leading up to 9/11.

More likely, these journalists know an awful lot about the military plans of the U.S. long before anyone else does.

Little hard to report from the front lines when you don't know what's happening. Y'gotta get the scorecard from somewhere.

This may be unrelated, or yet another sign: Carol Costello from CNN was scheduled to be on Boortz's show the other morning and had to beg out - there was a manditory seminar being held in house over there on Iraqi geography, place-names and weather. She was compelled to attend...

As a TV producer, you are hugely over-emphasising TV's importance in all this. The networks have no more idea when this is going to commence than my dog does. They are NOT on Bush's, Cheney's, Rumsfeld's, or Rice's "notification" list.

While there's not an exact warning (as there was during the Clinton years), there's enough of a heads-up given to let folks know what's coming. And if someone is in a position to read the tea leaves, they'll at least get an idea. And yes, that means that someone in Saddam's camp could get an idea as well. So you have to play your hand carefully.

No matter what you may think, the press' role in this thing is crucial. Not only that, this president is one of the best chess (or is it Risk?) players in a looooong time.

that's one of the little things....no point in doing something like that too far ahead of time because these folks go through so much information they lose alot over a few weeks

One other thing to remember is the last president used the press and manipulation of the press to cover up personal and cabinet member's problems. The current administration is using manipulation of the press to cover for national security.

One of the big signals from CNN & Ms.NBC will be when Christiane Amanpour and Ashleigh Banfield show up in Baghdad. And yes, although we joke about it, don't be surprised if Geraldo shows up there before the fur flies, either.

That Wednesday is Nov. 6th. There should be a new moon around then too.

Yep. But the bottom line is that "using the press" is something that ALL the administrations do. The big questions are how and to what end?
