Not disagreeing with your analysis, but interested to know how you think the news business determined it was time to get in position?

Also, I just heard on Rush's show that the Missouri senate election is different this year in that the senator elected there in Nov. will be seated immediately because the current senator took the place of her deceased husband. If things go right, that means the senate will be Republican majority for a little while at least. Do you think GWB will wait for that to happen and then get a senate resolution passed first?

I want to say this carefully.....the media in this country has certain responsibilities and they often work hand in hand with government.....

It is possible to glean things from certain actions as they happen, and my guess is the media, through it's world wide contacts, can see the build up is under way, the pieces are being positioned, the weather is far more favorable in October and November because of the rivers in winter, and if you can see world wide, you can probably connect the dots that happened last time....

I called the attack in Afgahnistan based on the same stuff and scooped everyone......

It's not quite that simple. The Governor of Missouri (a Democrat)is the one who would have the authority to seat Talent early. He doesn't have to do that, however.

Furthermore, if Frank Murkowski wins the Alaska gubernatorial race, there will be at least a 5-day period after the election during which Alaska will be short one Senator. Since that current Senate seat (Murkowski) is a Republican, the GOP would be one Senator short of a majority (assuming they gained only one seat in the elections). Depending on the timing, that might be enough to derail any hope of an early majority.
