1) Newsweek has a notoriously bad record for accurate projections. The reason is: 2) this is a poll of "registered voters." Any fool knows that "likely voters" poll more Republican than "regitered voters" because Republican groups like older, wealthier, more educated, more religious, and married with children voters all turn out more, and vote more Republican.

The House is safe -- Republicans will gain there. The Senate will flip. Republicans will gain there. Newsweek is, as usual, a birdcage liner, except it uses slick paper that doesn't absorb bird droppings very well.

Billybob is exactly right. The only question is, "how many net seats we will gain in the Senate." It has to be at least +2 to short-circuit a Chafee defection, and really needs to be +3 to keep McLame in the camp, permanently. It it is +4, I think we have a shot at getting Miller or Breaux to at least declare themselves as independents.

Beware what Kweeze Enfume of the NAA"l"CP said about have not just likely voters vote but "unlikely" voters vote. There has been a big push to increase black oops, african american voter registration.
